Wow, there are some really good pics being taken.

Scarlet - give me your D70 :) what lens did you use for that shot with the light rays and the couple on the bench. Really nice. Bet that would make a lovely print.

hehe screeper i would not part with that camera for anything - just bought a nice Nikon SB800 flash to go with it and a 1 gig memory card...

i did not take the one of the light rays and the couple one the bench... all my photos were taken with my Nikkor 18-70 lens, which owns... I recently bought a Nikkor 70 - 300 which i haven't taken many shots with yet - my brother has though on his Nikon F75 (film camera)

Sucks to hear about your camera.

An experimental 30sec. exposure in the car

Here are two shots I managed to take during a storm on 30sec exposure.
This was such a mission! I sat there for hours, and only get two good shots. :?

Very nice pictures Nitroflea! What is the longest exposure you can do with your camera? Like the storm pics.

Thanks Capanno, Scarlet and Jane! :)

Jane, the longest exposure is 30sec (which I used for the storm pics).

The really good cameras apparently have a kind of infinite exposure, so for lightning pics you just leave the shutter open and wait for a good bolt. hehe, a lot easier than setting a 30sec exposure and hoping you get lucky.
I missed so many good shots during the time it takes to process the image (usually a couple seconds) after it has been captured. In the end I was trying to find a pattern in when lightning will strike, hahahaha
And then there is the problem with the mem card filling up. When I took those pics I still had a tiny 32MB card, so it was like 12 or 13 shots and the card is full. :?

But I was lucky that night and got rewarded for my effort :D

Nice pics Nitro!

That long exposure setting is called "bulb" opens the shutter for as long as your memory card can handle.
Even some of the cheaper models can do it. I know the FujiFilm S5000 (+-R3500) has bulb function.

Tis a Panasonic DMC-FZ20
5 megapixel
Lense = Leica, image stablised, 12x Optical Zoom (36-432mm)
Macro down to 5cm from lense
Burst mode is 3 frames per sec for 7 shots

However the biggest drawback is that the longest shutter speed you can get is 8sec (so no nice 30 sec or bulb mode :()
