Re: Video of the day
Lol, this is a few months old but I just stumbled on it now.
Background for the uninformed:
Scotty McCreery was the winner of American Idol 2011. He's a 17-year-old (16 when he first auditioned) throw-back country singer with the most amazing baritone voice. At his audition he sang Your Man by Josh Turner. He wowed the judges (Stephen Tyler, Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez) and stuck with the same song again for his Hollywood solo audition.
He went on to win the competition without singing that song again.
So his home town threw a big homecoming thing for him, where he sang like six songs, the third of which was Your Man. He was nervous because he'd never sung it before with a live band. (The auditions were both a capella, and he only sung a brief snippet in both instances.)
So, anyway, they arranged for Josh Turner to surprise him on stage during his performance of this song.
I've seen a few of these celebrity surprises, but McCreery's reaction here is classic. If you hate country music, you only have to watch the first minute to see it. Turner comes on stage around 0:55.

Oh no you are not! Your redhead would not let you mistreat her kitties that way. (She would probably want to do it first)Stuart wrote:Nice. I'm going to try this when I get home.

To help illustrate the process of radioactive decay, Swedish nuclear scientists and musicians teamed up and formed the Radioactive Orchestra, which translate the isotopes’ different energy levels into sound frequencies. The result is questionable in terms of listen-ability, but the Swedish Royal Institute of Technology and the Nuclear Safety & Training organization’s project overall is interesting and new.
This video shows how nuclear scientist Bo Cederwall, musician Axel Boman, and artist Kristofer Hagbard worked together to translate the radiation into music. (It’s not in English, but since you’re reading this you can probably handle the subtitles.)
And if you have a mind to make your own, head on over to the Radioactive Orchestra’s site, where you can do just that.
