I would seriously love to collect figurines, but I would rather first buy some nice box sets...
Next up will be some small series' like FLCL or TWHE...

Just in case any1 was interested in anime based figures, here are some links.
Hobby Search Japan
http://www.1999.co.jp/
Site in English and Japanese. Sells figures and hobby kits from Japan.
Shipping by EMS only. Prices = Japanese, expensive but cheaper than local.
CD Japan
http://www.cdjapan.co.jp
Site in English. Sells figures (as well as DVDs, CDs, etc) from Japan.
Shipping by EMS/Insured airmail. Prices a little more than 1999 and selection quickly
sold out.
Volks
http://www.volks.co.jp
Maker of anime resin models, which can be customised, fully, including
eyes, hair, attire etc. Famous for their resin Doll-Figures (Dollfies) which range in price up to $1500 for limited editions, eg 60cm SD Chii from Chobits. They also do robot controlled partially AI robot models called Robofie's.
Ship by airmail or EMS.
YesAsia
http://www.yesasia.com
Based in Hong Kong. Basically sell CDs, DVDs as well as resin/PVC figures. Prices are MORE expensive than at Japanese sites above, since
stuff is imported into HK before despatch. Ship by courier and airmail.
eBay
http://www.ebay.com
Numerous anime figure retailers.
Yahoo Japan Auctions
One can bid through a third party service eg.
Rinkya.com
Okshon.com
Crescent-shop.com
The first has a great English engine for YJ while the last two are
a little cheaper, IMHO.

You can call some of them dolls, I'm sure, however they can be customised and retail for big $$$ since only limited numbers are brought out. I wouldn't call these toys for kids, unless you're a very rich parent.neon_chameleon wrote:Don't tell me there's dolls for this anime stuff too! OMW!
Someone's site: http://www.bobagirl.com/anime/nuevo/nuevo.html
Aha, yeah, you can get life-size models of many characters, scale 1:1 - they do retail for about $10K US, in Japan. Altho I'm sure they could be used for perverted reasons

for $100 or so. A 60 cm customised Chii can go for $1.500 easily too.
The nice figures are the painted PVC ones. They retail for about R350 plus shipping - but the quality of the work is outstanding usually. A resin model costs even more but there you have to paint the thing and assemble it and
it takes a lot of skill, plus expensive equipment like an airbrush gun.
Anyway that's just a bunch of links, if someone wants something in particular, Ebay or 1999 usually has it. If its rare, try Yahoo Japan Auctions, but you can usually find anything there although it costs extra to get it - namely the middleman fees. All sites ship to SA.
