No, they motivate me to get out of bed in the morning rather than....well curl up and die....or want to.

I have the opposite - my thoughts are all over the place. Cannot focus. Not good for work. Have 4 new systems to learn before Monday. And a presentation to design and plan.

Can you tell us what is the focus of your obsession? Or is it just anything that your brain feels like at the time?

Obsessive thoughts are an escape from anxiety. The way I see it, in any case. Feeling anxious tells your mind that there is something important you are not attending to, but because it isn't real you have to find an imaginary substitute. Thinking about something that makes you happy helps to satiate, like the thought of a new PC.

Heavy metal and exercise help.

Are you proposing that I pump iron?
Can't go to gym much at this time of year.

Mine are unfocussed AND obsessive. Flitting all over the place.
