but all that metal all over.... that thing must weigh a decent amount..

It does but it is not exactly what you would call metal... It has metal in it but it is more of a polyester and alloy compound.

so it isnt really armor like they said...

I likes it very very much how did you do it?

Trying to get somebody to wave a light around in particular pattern and than have the camera open and close the shutter at the right time is not easy

well... i made a whole set up for it. basically set the camera to bulb mode. made a trigger for the camera (which then went into my fancy light setup.) and when you flick the switch it opens the shutter then when you are done flick it back down and the shutter closes. the only hard bit was getting the right ISO and apature settings but it was normally about F5 -F12 and ISO 100-200

Some of the best armor in the world has no metal in it at all... Think Kevlar...

Also it is a different kind of armor. They call it Thermal armor and it is effective towards its requirements. It spreads heat evenly and isolates the board from outside heat sources such as graphics cards and hard drives and power supplies.
