I get to drive an awesome 65km back home...

We don't get paid overtime for this. We do however, get Monday off.
Which is awesome...
...Until I realised I can't take Monday off because I have a 'C# bootcamp' to attend the whole week long.

Ummm that sucks. You should be either getting paid overtime or being able to take the time off when ever you chose. Not just a day predetermined by the company. Some fun facts:

(b) An agreement in writing may increase the period contemplated by paragraph (a) to 12 months.



(5) An agreement concluded in terms of subsection (1) with an employee when the employee commences employment, or during the first three months of employment, lapses after one year.


(6) (a) A collective agreement may increase the maximum permitted overtime to 15 hours a week.


(b) A collective agreement contemplated in paragraph (a) may not apply for more than two months in any period 12 months.

Whoa there cowboy... No one is taking advantage here. They already told me I can choose another day to take off, and I do have reduced working hours for tomorrow. Thing is, our client has a demo tomorrow and we're doing as much as possible do get as much of the software working as possible. The bootcamp is also not mandatory- I can choose to go or not, I have chosen to. And this is not a regular occurrence- while it does happen from time to time, it rarely does happen.
