Nice colour... would agree on the colour but for that price there are other cars I would think of buying first. Not that any of them would match the resale value or any such things in the long run though.

That's the thing, in this price range there isn't any car that matched the performance, quality, standard features and resale of the GTI. I had a GTI 4 back in 2005 and loved it, so really looking forward to this again!

A wise decision like I wanted to say in my previous post. In that price range it is not about need it is about want. If it was about need you could get away with R120k. For me though at that price range I would probably go for something with a tad more kick.
Also I won't really be buying with my head. Id go for something in the lines of Giulietta 1750TBi Quadrifoglio Verde. Not a wise choice I know but I'd still go for it. Probably.

The stock specs for the GTI are 155kW at the flywheel but in typical VW/Audi fashion that's way underquoted because here in CPT at the last dyno day the stock ones made about 156kW at the wheels which is plenty for me, enough to scare quite a few bigger cars.

I must say I also love the Alfa's but the only one I'll probably ever buy will be a nicely restored GTV-6 3.0L, absolutely love it.

+1 it is an Alfa and they have a special character and are beautiful......unfortunatley the dealers are terrible and they are not the most reliable cars in the world, but I would still get one

Not True... The resale value over three years is actually better than that of BMW from some of the stats I have seen. Also the new models which came out last year and beginning of this year has resale values above the norm. Go on Carfind or something and find me 2nd hand Giulietta for under 200k

BMW is pretty bad as well dude. Audi is TERRIBLE! My A3 Sportback that I traded in will probably be the last Audi I buy in SA, just not worth the loss.

This thread is slightly derailed now I'd say, haha. New Alfa's are nice, they're just not for me. I love the Brera though, the front is much nicer than the new Giulietta.

congrats man - hope she gives you lots of trouble free and especially enjoyable and spirited motoring

i saw one of these in black the other day with a few small subtle mods done to it in terms of color coding and it had a small elegant drop on the suspension and it had 19" wheels (im not hugely a fan of low profile but it looked gorgeous) - and the car just looked absolutely immaculate so its a great choice and the only thing i would change is the color - sure white is a practical color but when buying a car like this IMHO it needs to look adventurous and its absolutely stunning in black

Thanks man, nice to have another GTI fan appreciate the choice, hehe. I chose the white cos I like the way it shows off the lines, black bits and slightly tinted windows, and perhaps a CF diffuser in the future.

The black is awesome though yeah, just a beyotch to keep clean and shiny!
