Are you sure they weren't vampires? Some women find a man in need irresistible. You know - the mothering kind. Rose Madder comes to mind for some reason.

Yes, it would take a particularly weird woman to hit on you.

I've always liked the idea of owning one, but an older model for some reason, something like this:Hman wrote:Yip, motorcycle.
Thing is, eventually you WILL fall off of it, no matter how good a driver you are. And look what happens. I don't like the idea of an impending painful or deadly injury hanging over your head the whole time.

Re: PCF Non-gallery Member Pics*
Can't see your pic.
My bike was a 1979 Suzuki GS750, and what a sweet bike it was (once I sorted the electrics out). The engine was brilliant, the guy who built the engine really knows his stuff.
I'm really sad that the bike is fubar, but I'm glad to be alive.
Like you say sometime or another you will come off in some fashion, but don't let that stop you. I love riding bikes and will be riding as soon as my leg is healed and I can scrape money together.

that doesn't look like a will-heal-one-day type injury... looks more like a liveable-until-you-get-older-and-then-start-to-hurt-like-hell-in-cold-weather type model you've acquired thereHman wrote:as soon as my leg is healed
is the kneecap now an evil-science version or was that still fine?

Meant as soon as I can walk. There's lots of screws and rods holding everything together, so I expect to get suffer in cold weather.rustypup wrote:that doesn't look like a will-heal-one-day type injury... looks more like a liveable-until-you-get-older-and-then-start-to-hurt-like-hell-in-cold-weather type model you've acquired thereHman wrote:as soon as my leg is healed

The kneecap actually survived, the femur broke 25mm from the knee and about 30mm from the hip. My ankle broke as well and the thinner one of the two bones in the lower leg broke as well. The massive scar around the knee is a result of the flesh being ripped in the accident.

The bike in my pic is a Yamaha XS650SE Special 1979. So it would seem we have similar tastes. Ja, might still give it a go one day, maybe during my mid-life crisis.Hman wrote:Can't see your pic.

PS: There are just so many horror stories and quite a few close to me. A friend of my father bought himself a superbike during his mid-life crisis, crashed and is now paralysed. His life is hell.

I saw one for sale December last year on Gumtree for cheap. Pity it was in George and not somewhere closer to Nelspruit, I wanted to buy it.KALSTER wrote:.... a Yamaha XS650SE Special 1979...
