Hah! The three terrors I have each have their own method of waking me up.

One sits on my chest and starts patting my face.
One sits next to my chest and right up close causing me to be unable to move due to the covers being to tight. This also causes me to overheat.
One walks on my crotch until I get up.

And they do it all at the same time .

At least they're not drawing blood from your extremities.

Get yourself a reptile!! I recommend a ball python, keep recorda, weigh it, measure it, once you get the first one more will follow, you'll be so busy taking care of them that you won't have time to feel down on yourself. Also a nice reptile is a fantastic conversation piece.

Some can be belidgerant too if that's what you want!!!

So I am not the only one that has problem children, so far my kitten is still to dumb to realize it's full potential.

Yeah a pet is an excellent idea. Not a cat, as they are pretty much independent creatures.A dog isn't. Still sort your self out then consider a pet...

We're not allowed to keep pets at Beatty House... More's the pity, cos' then I'd have a budgie.

We did have more in East London, but Hill left and Iggy was banned one time too many....

Seriously though, I don't think he'd come. He seems to think that my online activities are weird [he teases me about doing needlework online when I mention threads and isn't as obsessed with games and gadgets as I am, which is probably sensible]

My boss told me that I can go to the driving range with him when he goes there during lunch break.

but i know how your brother feels in that i didn't know what my mom did or saw in spending so much time online...
i still don't know what i'm doing here as i'm not that into pcs and games and such....

hitting a golf ball can be very exhilarating and a good way of getting rid of some stress....

We rush so much to places, doing things that we don't sit still and look at the wonders around us. Just sitting. Breathing. Like a meditation without the concentration. Recharging our souls, our spirit, our minds... our bodies.

I want to share a little story of mindless sitting. I have a wooden swing under a bottle brush. Loads of little birds in summer and spring hangs from the red flowers taking gentle sips, irritating the cats (who love the tree) into a violent shiver of whiskers.

I sit there almost every evening after work, normally with a glass of wine. Sometimes i think. Sometimes i just sit and enjoy. On one such mindless time wasting afternoon, a butterfly darted around my head... large and dark, with blues colouring its soft wings. The next moment it landed on my glass... and to my amazement it lowered its proboscis into the dark red of my glass, and took a few sips. It flew off, and came back for more.

Mindless, non-productiveness? Unless that is all you do, there seems to be place for it in one's life

As have I. I don't like people in general (in person, not online) and also have very few friends. I very rarely go out. But having only one friend is a bit too extreme, especially since he is such a likeable guy. Being lonely sucks big time.

Sigh, it's scary when you have more facebook "friends", than actual friends.

No online friends are safe and low maintenance. You can switch then off when it gets too much. They aren't as demanding as physical friends. But they needn't be any less real

I spent some time at my friend's house yesterday afternoon and got to see his 3 month old son. He also introduced me to "Alien" [he has quite a DVD collection] and an indy game called "Gears". We rounded off the afternoon with
GarageBand on his Macbook Pro and a look at the Canon DSLR camera he bought recently.

That little dig aside, sounds like you had a really great time. Apart from meeting a 3 month old baby that sounds like a great way to spend a day!

Agreed - I would also have skipped the baby bit. But it does sound like you had a great time. And Birdie - wait till you meet "Predator"

Well the probability that I will have my own kids, is dwindling, however both my brothers have kids, which means I too get the joy of kids...seriously they rule hands down, or till they crying starts...

I think we are still having trouble domesticating some of them

On the topic I'm starting to think it might be usefull go move to another job this one isn't really giving me much joy it seems to rehash the same problems over and over

On the friends department I probably need a few more but considering how many trafic lights get run over on payday I might have to consider looking for them somewhere else

@jamin: I think that most of the "Alien" movies came out when I was too young to be permitted to watch them or when we lived somewhere that did not have a cinema. [Which we did for a couple of years].

When the family did rent the odd video [on Betamax], they were usually of my father's choosing and he didn't like SF or anything scary. The Betamax machine eventually broke and was not replaced until 1992, when we got a VHS unit. By then I was too busy doing homework, projects and preparing for tests and exams to spend my weekends watching movies....come to think of it, that was not a good time, and very little fun was had.

Were it not for my friend, I would not have known what I was missing.
