The fact the game does not have LAN play just highlights is rubbish ness, but the french Alfa is still more of an epic fail.

jamin_za, you know the people who are forced to play MP over the net cuz lan play does not exist in SC2... they are the ones I was referring to. An to set the record straight I was actually fool enough to buy the monetary black hole named StarCraft 2

Changing your story, are you?
An to set the record straight I was actually fool enough to buy the monetary black hole named StarCraft 2
A monetary black hole would be any pay-to-play game - WoW for example. I know you were fool enough to buy that, how much do you recon you have paid for it in total so far - more than R580 I hazard.
SC2 was a once-off payment - and I got mine for under R420 - not sure where R560 was thumbsucked from

 No, you are misconstruing what I said.
I did not mean basement dwellers, I meant people who do not like social gaming.... actually, if the shoe fits - wear it, you basement dweller!

I'm confused...

You call Starcraft 2 a "rubbish console port" yet you rate a game made on the console for the console that was ported to the PC as game of the year. :? I have no words...

WoW has constantly released content and there is ooh so much to do. The monthly fees I pay to play it replaces what I would have payed for other games. Another game I was fool enough to buy is Star Wars Force Unleashed II. Finished the game in 2 nights. So the R400 I payed for it was for a momentary fling over a weekend. WoW actually works out cheaper if you look at it from that perspective. You pay like R120 for a month worth of game time. Yes you pay for the original but included in the box is also a time card so you are paying for the time card and not actually the game. I have never had a moment with WoW where I can say I don't have anything left to do. With SC2 I can say in all honesty that that should I continue playing, even downloading new maps, I will only see more of the same especially if you don't give a rat's behind about playing online.

I don't agree that paying a monthly fee to play a game that you already paid for is right.

We are talking about games in general, not just PC or console games.

WoW has to be good. It's the only game I have been playing for nearly 6 years non stop. I think I stopped playing it for about 3-4 months in total.

And as for Starcraft 2 as a console port, go back and look at the fine detail of the game. You know that the marines has multiple death animations? When dying from a zealot he can be sliced in half vertically or horizontally.

Like I said with your initial purchase of the medium you actually get game time. So you don't actually pay outright for anything other than the actual distribution of the content. Even if you buy the key on battle.net you get game time accompanied with it. Also you say it just isn't right. Well would you rather pay R120 a month and get top notch support and regular content releases or would you like to buy a game for R400 with only has 1/3 of the single campaign on it only to have to pay another R400 later on for another 1/3 of the campaign and then again. Oh and bear in mind that that 1/3 you get for R400 only keeps you busy for about a week and then you have to find another game to keep you busy so if you constantly want a game to keep you busy you would be paying around R1600 every month for new games. Besides the money attached to that issue you also have the issue of games not being released nearly fast enough for you to do that. Again playing WoW works out much cheaper than you would think. But then you don't play it so I can say with certainty that anything I will say falls on deaf ears in any case.

I did not say it was not a good game.

But what's good for the goose is good for the gander
RRF cant bash SC2 for being multiplayer and online heavy and then defend a game like WoW which only exists as multiplayer online.
And he cant cry about the once-off price of SC2 when you pay every month to play the same game :P

How many expansions has WoW had?
You paid for each one, didn't you?

I thought so, which is why I buy my games but only when they reach that R99.95 mark.

Yeah, I was wrong about R420 as well, I got it for R478 at Musica - and that was on day one with no pre-order.

But if you pay more than R520 you are getting ripped off, and it's even cheaper to buy it online.

I was confused by the fact that you are calling SC2 a console game when in fact it was made for the PC crowd. I was further confused when I saw your post saying that CODBLOPS should be game of the year when it is clearly a console port. Also your apparent dislike for console ports further increased my confusion. However I shall leave you to this thread and to your thinking that SC2 is a console based game...

I haven't played SC2 myself, although I'd like to some time

Strategy games pretty much always revolve around the multi player, this is what always makes them fun...

Gone are the days when teams like WW created good single player strategy games, such as Red Alert, although even back then, the multi player is what made games like RA and Tiberian Sun great games....(SC1 too tbh)

I suggest trying the multi, otherwise let me buy your copy of SC2 off you so I can!
