The only way I can see Intel making success of this is if they setup an entirely new entity to do it, using existing Intel resources (like the budget). They have the core principals down, as we can see with the various CPU's they have pushed out lately. If they really want to make a name for themselves in the market, they could take a look at picking up some ex-Nvidia and ex-ATI employees, and making a hybrid card for the mid-range market. After all, NVidia didn't start with 8800GTX Ultra, they worked up to it...
