Lol.

I noticed the difference. Especially when to trying to pinpoint a spot like a slightly visible head at speed, the MX518 was just much easier and quicker to work with than this OEM.

Smooth PC I can understand, but why would higher and higher gfx actually improve your gameplay?

I am thinking it would only draw away attention. Some small things might help, but in some instances less Graphics has been proven to improve gameplay as well...

A better mouse has a big impact. One can be very good on el-cheapo, but the high quality mouse just makes it easier to get there... Those fast turns will show your mouse capabilities in a split second...

I must say, I love Lanning COD4, but do not reallly love the level idea. Any newbie to the game is put at such a big disadvantage that they have to be frustrated for quite a while before they get to really join in all the killing fun...

So after much playing I can thankfully say I am now getting kills and not just lucky ones mind you  .

This game is brilliant to play online much better than CS. Also the class creating system is brilliant.

Note to all the "n00b" players don't go to the hardcore server!!! Its friggin insane playing without radar&crosshair, I got a few lucky kills but ran away like a coward couldn't take it after awhile...

I cant wait to get home to play some more!!! :P

haha, well high gfx is imo better than low gfx for cod4, well its better than 800x600 all lowest :D
And u get to have eye candy wen u die ? :D
It really isnt that hard for a "noob" to get to the highest level, i got there in 4-5 days(even if i did play a bit much :P).

I dno, maybe if i win some moneys or sumthing ill get a new mouse :D

I am currently playing on a res of 1280*1024 with high detail, am thinking of dropping the dynamic lighting effect. Its painful when you exit out a dark building into brigh sunlight only to be blinded by a few seconds...

I ahve no idea what lvl I am on, it said something about sergeant gunner yesterday and I am pretty sure that I am above that now...

BTW my mouse is the habu...

I know you could tweak graphics and lower them to gain an ingame advantage, but I prefer playing on max with everything turned on. In the end, its all about playing the game and enjoying it not winning.

I agree! Some of the comments I have seen flying around are jaw dropping. I love playing it because sometimes you never seee somebody until you see the kill cam :P

i'm up to lev 34 and i am the ultimate n00b, i can never get more kills than deaths but enjoy playing. awesome game, and best of all i am running everything on high on a 24" at 1920x1200!! (still cant see the sniperz!!)

i think some of the players should realise that its a game, not a competion, one night i was online and some guy said "i think we should kick the n00bs off" and it was overwhelmingly supported. Nothing like watching a teamie n00b as the last one left in a search and destroy!!

Yeah, people online play like their lives depend on it. They don't do it for fun. I just ignore them. But most players are cool. I personally haven't had a single problem with any player. And when someone is voted to be kicked, I always make sure to ask why and if no answer, i vote no.

I had to format my pc. Haven't reinstalled COD4 yet. I wonder if I'll lose my rank and have to restart. My dearest P90. :(

Nah, i'm not sure where the saved games are located (usally my documents) but if you reinstall the game, and replace the "new" saved games with your originals, you should be fine. Then again, maybe the multiplayer part is stored online? Though i doubt it.

by ecthelion
its located under the profiles folder in the cod4 installation directory  the multiplayer part isnt store online unfortunately ... its stored locally and is binded the to cdkey you used ... just remember to play the game again with the same patch as you previous played it with or you risk the chance of corrupting your multiplayer stats causing it to reset

My dear sir, I take offense at that statement.

Who are you to say that the only time someone can enjoy playing a game is when the graphics is on the max? I enjoy a game enormously for its playability, with graphics taking one of the lowest rankings... I also enjoy winning, as everyone actually does...

Now, when I do not switch on every single piece of graphics and push my hardest to kill and get the top score, am I now not enjoying the game anymore?

I would never actually vote to kick a person because he is a n00b, but rather vote AGAINST the stronger player and help the n00blet. Still does not change the fact that I will play my heart out to win... It is after all the reason online games show score and not just kill, respawn with no statistics or score being ever shown...

Why is a Free For All not a competition? Its a friendly competition that should be enjoyed, but I will play my best still...

This burns down to the same things that have happened in Battlefield 2142 in the past where a group of people join a (semi) empty server and shout "knifes only" so as to up their stats and gain the awards for knife kills... The moment someone else joins and refuses to play along with this "fun" they are voted off the server... Now, I like taking a gun and shooting... Now I am forced to play with the other people's fun because they feel like it?? Just before I joined BF I saw a group of people receiving a 6 week ban for doing just the above mentioned... Man, how I loved the moderators of the game...

You play for fun to look at graphics, I play for fun to kill... Who's fun is more important? Online IS competitive, Singleplayer is more focused for fun... It is the way it has been working for years on years...

I said "I prefer" not everyone should so I don't know why you took offence. I also play for killing and all the rest. Thats why we all play the game online. To test our skill. When a game look nicer, it has that extra something which makes it more enjoyable than if it didnt look so good in my opinion. That is why people buy high spec pc's for gaming. Im not saying that you need a good pc to enjoy a game. Im saying that turning gfx down when you are able to turn them up on high and still get good frame rates just to gain a competitive advantage is not MY idea of fun. I would feel much better about winning knowing that I am relying on my skill not on gfx tweaks.

I read that post of yours in conjunction with
you wrote:Yeah, people online play like their lives depend on it. They don't do it for fun.
Turning down the graphics is perfectly acceptable. I play SQ1, so if adding more graphics is making the game less playable for me, why would I use it?

Hell, even on Delta Force 1 I play with the lowest possible settings... I don't need the graphics, the game is awesome fun without realistic graphics and yet the graphics make it 5x harder to spot the enemy...

I am relying on skill, but if I have an option in a game to switch on 'Big bush you can not see through but looks pretty" off I would... Why would I willingly punish myself and give others an advantage?

I find it fun to play as hard as possible and be as good as possible, you are a more relaxed gamer... Just because I play 'like my life depended on it' (Which it kind of does in a PC world with games such as COD4, Day of Defeat, Battlefield) does not mean I don't play it for the fun...

Anyhow, whatever... When a guy on the net shoots you and you couldn't see him, don't cry fowl. He was willing to make a graphical sacrifice for the extra edge...

Enjoy your online gaming experience :)

In understand where you coming from. I prefer the "realism" of the bush blocking me and stuff. I find it more fun, but I can see why a lot of people wouldn't.

Oh and btw, yeah, that quote was a serious generalization. I forgot to edit it after reading the post after posting it.

Guys, i read in a walkthrough where i can find all of those intel pieces. On the sniper mission, where you have to survive the tides of enemies next to the ferris wheel, there is a door, to the SE i think, that opens and then new enemies appear. Now i went to that door, but no enemies showed up from it. The door didn't open, so i couldnt get the intel piece. Could it be a bug? (i have not installed patches yet) Or could it be that i chose the easiest difficulty to survive my exploration there and then not enough spawned for the doors to open too  (finished the game on the 2nd diff)

I read that there is a bug in the 1.4 patch... So i'm waiting for ver 1.5.
I really dont have 80mb-100mb to waste on a busted patch.
