Well, I can't spoil everything. You'll all have to wait and see...
As well as learn not to implicitly trust everything I say concerning the mag in this particular thread

Not that anyone believes that the spoon in your hand is as big as you say. They want proof printed in the next issue of the mag.

My spoon isn't in my hand. It's sitting on the seat next to me..

Proof is still required whether it is in your hand or on the chair next to you does not matter.

Re: My spoon is too big (Schrödinger's thread)
I knew altering the title of this thread would come in handy some day..
The spoon is in a state of quantum flux that means it is simultaneously too big as well as an acceptable size. As long as it remains unseen, it will remain in this state. Observing the spoon will collapse the quantum wave-form and reduce it to one or the other of the two states. Therefore I cannot submit proof, visual or otherwise, of the size of said spoon.
*I learnt my quantum mechanics from Terry Pratchett so forgive the inaccuracies in the explanation*

Proof that the spoon does not exist: What spoon?

Re: My spoon is too big (Schrödinger's thread)
Problem being that the spoon you speak of is only a theoretical spoon and could for all purposes not even exist. If an observation/reading of the spoon has never been made then it could also be a void and thus not exist. Also by the spoon sitting next to you on the chair the quantum wave-form has to be collapsed already since you would already have made an observation of the said spoon.Drakonis wrote:I knew altering the title of this thread would come in handy some day..

Re: My spoon is too big (Schrödinger's thread)
In stating that you cannot prove that the spoon exists - you have offered proof that you cannot prove that it doesn't. In the absence of wind - do we prove that there is no air? Nope. The air still exists even though there is no evidence to support that fact.
In the dark, do we say that light does not exist? Nope - for the light does exist as soon as the darkness ceases to exist.
Therefore the spoon does exist.
And yes - I would frame it - were it true.

I think that if we get both Jee and Tribble involved we should get to the truth of the matter.
