John Grisham... his books look as though they could be interesting.

His courtroom novels are interesting; his others, slightly less so.

His "The Broker" book is flying around our house, might give that a read at some point just to see how his work is.

The Broker is not bad. The first two-thirds are slowish, but it picks up nicely after that. Still, it's not the best book to judge his writing by. It's more of a spy type novel. Grisham's background is in law, and that is where he shines best.

Still, it's not a terrible read.

Stuart, I have "The Chamber" and "The Rainmaker" too, have you read either?

I'm not an avid reader. Just starting to read again when I'm abroad and got nothing else to do in the evenings 'cos reading helps me sleep. I saw the book in CNA and bought it. Only saw afterwards that it's the same auther of the davinci code and angels and demons. Otherwise I probably would've waited for the movie. I've read a few chapters and I am enjoying it so I'm not sorry I got it.

Haven't read The Chamber. I have read The Rainmaker. It's one of his higher-rated novels generally speaking, although I must admit not quite my favourite. (Perhaps just because of its--in my opinion--anticlimactic ending.) It's a better introduction to Grisham than The Broker, however.

The story sounds like it could catch my attention. I'd be more interested in a spy story than law anyways. :D

I'll go with Rainmaker first then, thanks.

Sounds good in theory. But it's incredible how a book like The Runaway Jury can keep you captivated.
