Er no :D

A game where you know why you like it and love it is perfect. When your still playing because of grey areas you should be worried that blizzard isnt pumping herowin into our homes via digital services.

Was my off week but this is what the group did. Looking forward to it in the future. As for me I wont be in them. My sub is expiring and I don't feel like carrying on with WoW. Atleast not for a while.

Looking good so far.

What Blizz is doing right:

1. Listens to their game community and follow through with changes to the game.
2. Re-invent the game world with each patch/content update without re-inventing the wheel.
3. If you have a nub to mmo's, I'd have to say from all the mmo's I've been testing, wow's method of "easing" the new player into functions and game mechanics with how-to's are top notch.
4. Availability for their community to create add-on's is setting the standard imo. No other mmo (correct me) have such an evolved and custom mini-platform for in-game community development.
5. Consistent pricing model and subscription cost.

That said, this is why I left:

1. Same old-same old. I've been playing wow since vanilla. Although I applaud Blizz for their ingenious revamp in the release of Cata, at the core it remains classic wow. And it should. It's just too much for me considering I've been doing this game for nigh on 6 years now.
DDO = fresh + new to me, it is actually fun discovering the nuances of the game being a nub.

2. If you have seen one priest (sub in any other class here) you have seen them all. There is no differentiation. Yes your talents will give you a different role, but that does not change you in any way from your neighbor with the same talents. Pre-cata you could still dabble in a mismatched mix of talents, even that is removed now. You have to have certain gear (like everyone else with your class and role) to be viable in end game. Did any of you notice all the twins and triplets running around in Dalaran just prior to Cata's release?
In DDO you can multiclass in up to 3 different classes. The possibilities are so widely ranged while you remain a viable end game prospect.

3. Cartoon-like grafx. Ok, this is a very minor (and recent) irritation, but once you get into DDO's attempt at a more realistic world and characters, you will understand. In fact, it was't even a thought on my mind, until I went back to wow one night to mail my gold to a guildie. Everything seemed so... childish? (For lack of better term).

4. Pay-to-play / free to play model in DDO. Although finance were no a final deciding factor, having the option to to "unlock" content permanently without having to pay a monthly sub is a very nice feature. Not that wow's monthlies were bank breaking, but looking forward I estimate subscr savings of about R1200 by this time next year.

So this is my core reasons for jumping ship.
DDO do not have the glam and spit-polish you find in wow, but the rugged appearance and D20 system makes up for it.
The only thing I will miss dearly in wow is the in-game friendships I've made.

I stopped my sub but will be renewing over the weekend or early next week.

The 2 first reasons are my reasons for stoping. Same old same old. New skin, new lands, but lore is becoming a loop hole. Classes and race combinations are becoming an issue. Alliance had paladins that excelled at cleansing and thats it. They joined raids as dps or healer in any of the 3 specs and ran around hitting stuff with a 2 handed sword or mace. And shamans just did dmg while totems did their jobs for them.

The world of warcraft ( :P ) was a not fresh but you remembered them from the rts and enjoyed exploring it. The only related content from warcraft 3 was actually just naxxeramas where you fought Kel Thuzad again while the other content focused on the rest of the world. Its been feeling like Blizzard has just revived content from games past to stretch it out.

That said the only other mmo I am looking forward to playing is GW2.

Re-Fixed that for you.

I'd rather have a proper Knights of the Old Republic than a MMO.

Read this reply again and it hit me between the eyes... the initial allure to wow was first and foremost having played Warcraft: Orcs and humans, then every expansion to that with the storyline.
Getting to experience what was only a single player adventure in such a way (mmo) when vanilla was released was just beyond awesome. To run around in the areas and meet NPC's you interacted with (or controlled) in the single version was just epic.

All that is gone. Although the game itself is alive and well, the storyline got raped to allow continuation (debatable) - classic warcraft's storyline, my initial allure, is dead.
They are flogging a dead horse imo (meaning storyline).

As for kotor vs a mmo version, don't knock it till you've tried it. (Not that I have, but you cannot write it off just yet.)

Well, I never thought the day would come, but you can add me to your list of WoW players...

After 3 months of harassment by my colleagues at work I have started a WoW trial and will probably be upgrading that to a full Cataclysm membership this weekend...

This place is changing me, and for the worst. I caught myself calling someone 'mate' the other day - which is almost as bad as playing WoW

Don't laugh, you bloody agent!
WoW is to be my solace after my dreams of ever making it into Platinum league in SC2 have been crushed by millions of Koreans...

If you want a fail, here's one:

I bought a PS2 game called Robotech: Battle Cry after asking my sister if her PS3 played PS2 games and being told it did.
The game got delivered Monday and guess what, she has the 160GB version with ho PS2 support, so today I won an eBay auction for a PS2 console. Only $47 plus $13 postage, to play a game I bought for $19...
