The honeymoon's over for Google+

After a meteoric launch, Google's social network has started to stumble -- due, in no small part, to self-inflicted wounds

Yeah I have lost interest. However that is not because I dont see a point to it just that the iPhone app is not very responsive(?) and that your sparks are not easily accessible from the app. Plus has anything new been added into Google+ yet? The promised features and so on?

For me it's simply that so few friends are on there compared to Facebook, and those who are barely use it. The iPhone app is a bit of a fail in some respects though.

ITProPortal wrote:Google Inc.’s new social networking platform Google+ is one of the first to boast of more than 25 million users in less than one month of the launch.

According to the Los Angeles Times, market research firm comScore in its latest report has revealed that Google+, which was launched to masses in late June, has managed more than 25 million visitors in a month and is recording around a million unique visits every day.

So G+ is getting games.....just like FB. What will be next-FB-type advertising?

Ah but a difference does exist. With G+ one can block the annoying game feeds from entering ones stream.

Google+ to Support Pseudonyms

Google+ will soon support pseudonyms and other forms of identity, says a Google executive.

During a conversation at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, SVP of Social Vic Gundotra revealed that Google will eventually support other forms of identity. While Google started with only allowing users to sign up if they used their real names, it will be adding features that will “support other forms of identity” in the next few months.

The revelation comes a few months after controversy erupted when Google suspended users utilizing pseudonyms and nicknames instead of their real names. At the time, Google made minor changes in response to criticism, but stood firm on its decision to suspend users that didn’t use their real names.

Apparently the issue is technology, resources and the atmosphere the company wanted to set with Google+. The company wanted to create a community focused on real names, but now it realizes that some people have legitimate reasons to use pseudonyms.

Gundotra didn’t go further into how Google+ will support pseudonyms.

Google has completely revamped its Google+ app for the iPhone. The updated app, released on Wednesday, introduces a completely new look—one that diverges quite a bit from the Google+ website—that is meant to lure users into more active engagement.

No update for me yet, but it looks purdy.

@Stu

Search the App store for it and manually update it. For some reason the update is available but the check for app updates button doesn't work?
