Interesting that they now try and say that it will not affect 2010, when a government department said we should consider scrapping 2010.
Yes, Eskom can gaurantee all stadiums have power, but who would come a land, watch a soccer game and then go to their hotels knowing there is no warm water, electricity there?
And, if we are NOW running over supply, what will happen in 3 years? How many more stations will fail by then?
RSA should scrap 2010 now whilst we still have the time to save a bit of face, maybe even give another country enough time to run 2010 effectively...

The funniest was a ways back when city power shed the load on themselves *doh*. It's really crazy, is says in that article how a lion-king performance was cut. Can you imagine something like the Celine Dion concert at Loftus and the lights go out with all those people having paid close (and more than) R1000 a ticket!? The scary thing is that in 2010 the stadiums will run completely off generators, but what will the rest of us do in the darkness???
And now, thieves are going onto Eskoms site, checking out the schedules and hanging around in Spars, PC shops etc, then the lights go off and they walk out with the goods.

You just got lucky. Is it an Public or private hospital?? They have been cutting the power at the private hospitals here in PTA causing major issues for my Dad and his firm since they can only finish operations on generator power. They aren't allowed to start any operations on generator power except for emergency operations.
This is really a sad state of affairs and has been the final nail in the coffin to convince me it ain't worth it to stay here. I have started looking into the UK highly skilled migrant program. Still 20 points short of qualifying but that's my plan now.
On world cup 2010 Fifa said they are monitoring the situation which in Fifa speaks means we are ****** ourselves with worry and have asked strategic countries to be ready in case of disaster.

No, we should have it here, and show the rest of the world what a circus this country is turning into. Hopefully I'll be long gone by then.
I can just hope that the rest of the world will see the failure, and count it for what it is, and not 16 years after the first "Democratic" elections, still revert to blaming Apartheid for the failure.
Oh! Ye of little faith! Escum is on the ball, and there is light at the end of the tunnel!
*no, not the train!*
the following e-mail was received, bringing hope:

"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.
This country is going to end up like the rest of Africa with poverty, hunger and disease rife... And they'll blame it all on Apartheid. I had such high expectations, the economy started booming but than recently with Zuma and the start of the power cuts, everything fell apart. The only hope this country has left is if all the Zuma supporters die of AIDS, and that is a really terrible thing to say but it's true.
I'm moving to Australia, but I won't be gone by 2010. I'm going to laugh at what happens.
