ZeroS wrote:I got the drive. Feeling rather grateful, I open the package with much effort. Taking a good look at the hd, I think back to how clean it was the first time time I got it. The first thought that hits my mind.
Has someone slept with this between their legs!? o_O
Afraid and risking skin infection, I take the drive and hook it up.
....

I don't think it's shinji as he kept me well informed of everything that was going on with the drive. He did a scan just before sending it off.
Are the guys at the PO's leeching anime?
Firstly - I didn't clean the drive when I got or sent it - didn't want to get the drive damaged with cleaners or stuff. My bad.

Secondly - Glad you had trouble opening the drive! That means the okes at the PO couldn't sneak a peek and the drive got there safely.

Lastly - the drive was happy when I sent it. I copied all the Anime (oops I mean leeched) and still haven't gotten any virus (etc) warnings. Maybe it's some of the pics??? Anyway I was careful and found no problems, however the Antivirus scanner I use might not have scanned deep enough.

Just my 2 cents on the topic. The best thing to do when getting an expensive piece of equipment such as this is to keep everyone up to date.
Can't wait to get the drive again! (Promise I'll wipe it clean! )

nah Shinji, the drive is really dirty... when I got it it had almost like a scratch mark on it...

don't know if it was washable or not, but also didn't want add some cleaning stuff to the drive...

also, I have reformatted and before I did I used Norton... I have found that Norton has found more stuff than AVG or Avast that I am using now...

it is true that some do not find what others tend to find, so we cannot really know unless we all use the same scanner...

If this is not right, then is it Reticulated that is next?

Norton is a good AV. I don't know why most people think it isn't. Latest stats rate it much higher than AVG. The only downside of Norton is the resource usage. If you have less than 2Gb RAM then I suggest using something else but if you do then it can only do you good as you won't notice any performance loss.

And just btw guys please look after the drive.

If it's dirty then clean it. If the box is damaged then replace it.

And the virus rule still apply don't forget. It always traces back to the last handler.

I went through the stuff I put on the drive and there's no trouble with it.

However ( ) once I managed to get to a fast enough connection (the one at home suck) I could open the image files ZeroS posted.
Yip. It is the exact same problem I get when using a flash drive.

Why????

I do Windows Updates regularly, I scan the drive (with a regularly updated Anti Virus program) twice a week and I'm the only one that uses the PC (the one at work is also updated and scanned).
Can anyone shed light on this issue? [yes I know this is the wrog place to ask]

I really really didn't think it would cause trouble on the HDD.

I scanned the drive and didn't find anything. I've got McAfee and it's works like a darling. Never had a problem since.

It looks like Cyclic isn't putting out. Could you forward me Reticulated's details OTC honey?

Sorry dude. I had no internet access. My laptop popped and my modem on my main pc is also broken. This is why I would prefer a preplanned route with dates etc.

Have you already sent? If so then I'll just take it after Ret.
