Sigh. The mxit pc client works hundreds the first time I open it. But when I try open it again it says error app closing as my contacts load. Repair installing it fixes this. And is getting annoying every time I wanna get on to mxit. SIGH BETA FTL.

Ok, here's the linky: Sun Java Wireless Toolkit 2.5.2 for CLDC Download.

It requires a bit of setting up, but here's the procedure I follow:
  1. Make sure you have at least the JRE (Java Runtime) installed.
  2. Then install the toolkit, default is something like C:\WTK2.5.2\.
  3. Download MXit from www.mxit.co.za/wap, you'll need the jad and jar file, use notepad to get the url for the jar file out of the jad file.
  4. Then place both files into ..\WTKxxx\apps\MXit\bin\
  5. Rename the jar file to something like MXit.jar, then edit the url in the jad file to MXit.jar, do not put a path, just rename it to what you name the jar file to.
  6. MXit is now set up and you can double click the jad file to run MXit.
Any questions? ;)

Is it possible to use MXIt to contact someone in England-and how much would it cost?

I imagine that you would simply add them the same as any other contact, but use the right code in front of the number (I have no idea what this is though) and it would cost the same as in SA as it charges you for the amount of data used, regardless of where it comes from. ( I stand to be corrected on this)

Or you could use Nimbuzz on your phone and call him at the price of a local phone call? ;)

It doesn't matter where your from. The number you use (yours) is only a username. I signed in with my account (+27) when I was in Namibia on their network.

Likewise, when I was in Australia in December 2006, I was able to connect with my South African number using an Aussie SIM card.

Guys there is no longer a need to struggle with emulators and crappy third party programs anymore, and especially not MXit's own horrendous implementation, simply download Pidgin from here and install. It works extremely well! :D
