KillerByte - Doing the VoorTrekker Thing...
Hey
Left Durban at around 10am, just reached Harrismith. Sitting down to a nice lunch at JuicyLucy and hope to be in Pretoria by 5pm.
My car is so full, my PC obviously has the front seat to itself with my Laptop taking the passenger foot well.
Thank goodness I replaced the stock sound. The CD player was fried, so got that replaced with a MP3 player that has SD card and USB support. Got a 2Gb SD card in it full of music. Replaced the 6" Mids yesterday (they distorted terribly) so I am enjoying my Pioneers, I am very impressed with them. Here is a link

I hope you had a nice large lunch cause you will reach the "boerewors divide" in peak traffic and you will be waiting for a while . It will be a whole new experience mister...KillerByte wrote:...hope to be in Pretoria by 5pm.

well I finally found some time to sit down and do some surfing.
There is a lot of traffic in Pretoria, us Durbanites never see this kind of traffic in Durban.
Got a bit lost yesterday when I was driving around but the road system makes sense (unlike some parts of Durban) so I managed to find my way back home.
I start on Monday at the PCF offices, going to get up early to see how long it takes me in rush hour tomorrow morning.
And lets see if we can organise a PTA PCF meet shall we...

If you're going to travel from Pta to PCF's offices in Jhb between 7-8 in the morning, you'd better be prepared to sit for 2-4 hours per trip. I work in Sandton which is a bit closer and that takes me 1.5 to 2 hours on average, even if I leave at 5:30 in the morning!KillerByte wrote:well I finally found some time to sit down and do some surfing.

Yup! The one thing I really don't miss is living in Pretoria East and travelling every day to Sandton! As OnlyOne says, 2 hours average one way in peak traffic. After about 9:30am it takes 45 minutes to an hour...
Things only get worse when Eskom decides to load shed and all the traffic lights go out...

That traveling is why i earn peanuts but have peace... i will never be able to do that traffic - it will drive me to drink. Will the Gautrain help when it eventually runs?
"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

Gautrain won't help anything IMO, even if Eskom can actually power it.jee wrote:That traveling is why i earn peanuts but have peace... i will never be able to do that traffic - it will drive me to drink. Will the Gautrain help when it eventually runs?
I would never stay in PTA/JHB again if I head back to SA, not for all the tea in China!
