Ghost topics
Ghost topics
Okay, I propose that, whenever mods move topics, they _don't_ leave a ghost topic, because of the duplication in the quickbar. I know it won't happen all that often, but I also feel that there is no real need for the ghosts - people can work out where it would get moved to.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

I second that.Synkronos wrote:Okay, I propose that, whenever mods move topics, they _don't_ leave a ghost topic, because of the duplication in the quickbar. If Cammy were to edit the quicklaunch bar code so that it didn't show up ghost topics, then I would support leaving ghosts. However, Cammy is always very busy, and I think until such time ghosts will just cause more problems than they're worth.

The ghost topic automatically takes you to the moved thread.
Ok, I don't want to make an issue of this, but here's my two cents.
On every single forum I visit, people ghost moved topics on purpose so as not to confuse people looking for that topic.
For instance, what if there was a hot topic that someone replied to on a Thursday, yet on Friday they went there hoping for a reply and it was gone ?
Now the quicklink bar would have moved on past that topic.
How the hell would that person know where the post had gone to ?
Now do you see why it's good sense to have them there ?

I'm not voting on this. I'll leave the moved in the areas I've been assigned to moderate and you guys can leave them out in the ones you moderate.OnlyOneKenobi wrote:So far we have 5 votes for not leaving ghost topics, 1 vote for leaving them and one "don't care." Anyone else?
It's not like we're going to be flooded with moved topics - it happens once in a while, so it's no big deal.
