a golf 3 VR6
It's still the best!
Running Vista is like being in a candy store that only sells black liquorice at exorbitant prices. Oh, and you\'re only allowed to eat the candy in the store.

Ya right... Very nice sound but poor performance for a 2.8L 6 cylinder, put it against a 328i and it sees it's backside sadly...

As for the GTi's, MK1 = Awesome, MK2 16V = Acceptable, MK3 = Joke, MK4 = Acceptable, MK5 = Nice

True, I own one. But its a far more pleasureable drive than any BMW i've ever been in. For a person whos 6.2 I still haven't found a beemer that has a comfortabel cockpit.

Its just a pity VW couldn't have done something with that engine, because theres so much potential its frightening. They were a tad bit conservative in my opinion.

Hmmm I'm 6'2" and find my 3 series very comfortable, I could never get comfy in my Jetta 3 though, but I suppose that's why we all drive different cars ey, some just click with us better than others...

With a nice exhaust system and induction kit there's very few engines that sound as good as a VR6, I nearly bought one about 4 months back...

The GTi 3 though, do me a favour... That truly doesn't deserve the GTi badge.

Right now I'm busy looking for an original MK1 GTi for a project car, but as you can imagine they're like hens teeth!

Friggs --> my pleasure...I was in awe when I checked these pics...

I have to agree with Ryanrich....the MK3 didn't deserve the badge it had. That GTi sucked big time...

Me personally......I'm in love with the G5....awesome car....stunning.....beats the GSi (dont mean to start an Opel war here!) in every aspect....

MK1 GTi...... *sigh*....

Here in SA we got a cut down version of the VR6, in the UK you get a 30V VR6, which is a killer, i reckon the Golf 2 GTi 16v would win the quater mile, that little 2.0 pushes 111Kw STANDARD, But the Golf 5 DSG should beat it :( pity, but they are on the right track to sorting the once great GTI out

Major Veedub fan here, even though I don't own 1 myself yet. Have driven plenty of stock and modded ones in my life thus far though.

I was wondering if anyone knows if the the Golf R32 will ever be available on our shores? Not that my piggy bank is gonna finance one but would be interesting to see it on our roads. From what I've read and seen in clips its a killa "low-flier".

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder....

It amazes me how they can still charge in excess of R100 000 for a car thats been in production for like 30 years.... R&D costs must be like R1 a car by now...

Typo. Should I fix it? or leave it as is?

You're suppose to spell it: UN-fortunate
:P
