Why did you change Belix?

I've been sick all week. Today is the first day this week that I'm back at work. Returning on a Friday isn't bad...

I felt pretty yuk over the w/e. I was booked off for all of last week until Friday, went to work Friday, felt yuk. All the muscles in my body felt tired on Saturday. I felt better on Sunday, and now I'm back at work again today.

At least I'm getting better.

How way your weekend guys?

My weekend guys weigh themselves on a scale - preferabbly digital.

Are you calling the digital guys or the digital scales rabble?

I was so looking forward to getting my paws on the Developer Preview of Windows 9 today. Turns out it's only being released tomorrow. I'm still a fan of 8 & 8.1 though. The caching and improvements in speed like boot, hibernate, resume and shut down times are really fantastic on an HDD. The straight-out-of-the-box support for all (not just some) of the features of SSDs are really nice too.

I don't know for sure what will be "new" in Win9, but I'm looking forward to finding out, especially how well/sucky Cortana will work compared to Google Now on my phone.Let's hope it's pretty good...

Cool dude. If that suits you and how you use your computer, great!

Me, I like fiddling with it. I enjoyed and benefitted from the file caching speed increase in Win8 and 8.1 and improved boot times. I'm looking forward to faffing with Cortana and finding out how well she works/sucks. I'm not particularly bothered with the apparently higher graphics memory usage that Win8 uses over Win7 - I honestly didn't notice any performance difference in the games that I play on Win7 and Win8.

Computing is my interest, hobby, passion and career. :-D

Why Microsoft's engineering changes will be the real Windows 9 (Threshold) story
Mary Jo Foley wrote:Tomorrow, September 30, will be the day Microsoft takes the official wraps off an early build of Windows Threshold.

While some can't wait for the new name of the next version of Windows client to be revealed, and others are anxious to hear about the first of the new features aimed at business users in particular, I'm hoping to learn about what Microsoft has done on the back end to change the way Microsoft delivers operating systems, going forward.
(emphasis mine)

A comments from me about the shorter release cycle coming with Win9:
I think that this is a good thing. People have complained about waiting too long between updates/patches/service packs. It made me smile when I saw that some people, who appear to be company sysadmins, complained about now going to have too many updates to manage. Oi. One can't please everyone, all of the time...

Aaaand it's "Windows 10," ladies and gentlemen.

I think that WinX sounds AWESOME!

Also, Windows OS X: The ultimate troll by Microsoft.

They skipped 9 because 7 8 9. "9" having a similar sound to "pain" or "despair" in Japanese had nothing to do with it. :-)
