Be glad you lot don't see the forum spam that has been happening for sometime now... Making new Q&A's for these spammers is getting annoying...

Re: English Spam Thread and General Rubbish
The new user Q&A was cracked on the 21st of November and the forum had a massive influx of spam accounts and every so often they would wake up and post in Russian/Czech or some other funny language. Spent about an hour cleaning them all up. And its not too common for me it's that work is really, really busy . So update me what happened to your car? Did RRF dribble in the back seat?KatrynKat wrote:what you going on about... you hardly in spamville these days... it's apparently toooooo common for youAnakha56 wrote:Be glad you lot don't see the forum spam that has been happening for sometime now... Didn't reddit fake users when they started? The spam bots could help.

Re: English Spam Thread and General Rubbish
It's not really Bitcoin itself, I think virtual currency is kinda cool and I don't fully understand the technical details behind it since I've only read the for dummies explanations. I personally don't see it replacing real money but who knows.
What I do know is that right now, the price of Bitcoin is sky-high not because people see actual value in it, but because they read about the dude who spent $32 on it and is now a millionaire. They don't want bitcoin, they just want to be rich. So they bid up the price, and when the bubble bursts, a lot of people are going to lose a lot of money.

Re: English Spam Thread and General Rubbish
What I want to know about bitcoin, and what I haven't seen addressed anywhere, is: Person A calculates a number, The Group checks it. Why does Person A then get something that The Group (and now normal humans) consider valuable?
What makes the solving of a mathematical puzzle translate into cash? So what if Person A calculates a hash???

English Spam Thread and General Rubbish
It's required to keep the whole system secure (encryption, tracking, verification etc. ) so the bitcoin payment you get is a sort of payment for the use of your hardware from the… Bank of Bitcoin.
I think.

Re: English Spam Thread and General Rubbish
OK, but to what end?
Person 1: I'll create a system that relies on calculations to generate hashes (effort, because nothing is for free) and also calculations to ensure verification of those calculations.
Person 2: OK. I'll calculation a hash.
*does so*
Person 3 (&4? &5? &n?): OK, I'll verify.
*does so*
Person 1: Ok, I give BC1 to Person 2.
Person 2: Yay!
BC Exchange: I'll give you, person who expended the energy to calculate, $10 for your BC1.
Person 2: OK.
BC Exchange: I'll sell people who don't want to expend the energy to calculate BC1 for $12.
WHAT THE FLIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPPP??????????????? We just created a currency from nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A currency driven by computing power, as opposed to, say, digging up and refining gold in the ground.
I guess it goes back to the fact that currency is pretty much made up anyway - a standard thing that takes the place of a barter system of various things that everyone agrees has a certain value. But I still don't understand who profits from the creation of the BitCoin system. Someone who wants to do away with traditional currencies? Someone who wants to increase the possible impact of a recession with a shared currency? (I'm looking at you, Eurozone!)

Oh... I see what you mean. Well yes, I don't know why we need a new currency either.
Money only has value so far as it is backed up by actual physical goods. What real value bitcoin has is anyone's guess.that everyone agrees has a certain value

Re: English Spam Thread and General Rubbish
The Randela isn't backed up by physical goods anymore (well, not gold at any rate.) And neither is the Murrican Dollah. No currency that I know of is like that anymore.
