I hope you are right but I reckon it's going to have to change quite a bit still for Tahir to be a real threat. Swann has done nothing so far.WiK1d wrote:Nope, we should bat until before tea tomorrow, clean them up on the final day. Tahir is going to have a ball on that deck come day 5.

Re: The Cricket Thread
I'm having a ball here in Perth...
SA whollopping the Poms, Sharks beating the Reds, Else nudging out Scott.
I've worked my colleagues into quite a state this morning pointing all these out ad nauseam.
I get the best of both worlds now...
I can troll the Aussies when SA do well, and I can troll you lot when they don't.
I'm positively giddy right now

I'm feeling a little better about the cricket right now. I reckon most of the English stalwarts that could hold our bowlers out are now back in the change room. It's probably just a matter now of being able to bundle out the tail, though the pitch is still looking pretty flat.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Man, the last time I saw SA dominate a test like that was when they beat Zimbabwe in a day-and-a-session a few years back! Simply awesome! Amla, Kallis and Smith = Pure brilliance. Peterson must be KICKING himself. He just had to get off the mark and he would have scored a hundred.
I thought they'd come out after tea yesterday and play a few overs of T20. Not to be, I guess, although if Kallis didn't already have two doubles, they'd definitely have come back out.

Ouch. England's last three test wickets have cost them 780 runs, going back to when Tino Best scored 95 at number 11 in the last test against West Indies. In fact...With an innings victory, this was the most comprehensive Test win ever in terms of the difference between runs per wicket of the winning and losing teams - the previous biggest margin came in this match, in which England beat South Africa for the loss of two wickets in 1924.

The scoreboard says AB did a good job behind the wickets, or am I being deceived?

I was floored by the amount of run Smith scored, never thought he had it in him . Was unable to watch the majority of the game and was only able to watch today but big up to the team and well done to Amla, Kallis, Smith & Steyn for a superb performance. Here's hoping we can outplay England in the next two games!

I salute you Mark Boucher! He deserved a better send-off than this.

He didn't get bucket loads of wickets, but he bowled damn well. He's getting better all the time.WiK1d wrote:False.Stuart wrote:That Tahir would clean up.WiK1d wrote:What did I tell you guys.
You gotta feel for Alvero Peterson.
If I were England, I'd go to Kevin Peterson and ask him what exactly he was trying to achieve in this match. He played piss poorly in the context of the game. He could take a page out of Ian Bell's book.

False, as in that's not "What I told you guys".
Re: The Cricket Thread
Lol, Smith not out because of a dead ball. Never seen that one before.

But then a dead ball called on a Smith boundary too.

At 73 for 0, it had been 450 runs since England had taken the last South African wicket.
Re: The Cricket Thread
England must be kicking themselves for leaving out Swann right now.

Re: The Cricket Thread
So this game is turning out quite interesting so far. I would hate to be the batsmen with Alviro, never know when you are going to be run out...
Saw this on CricInfo, had a good laugh:

Re: The Cricket Thread
Everyone making a contribution, great knock by Alviro, was hoping he'd make a double. Each of our top 4 has a 100 after 2 innings, that's great going.
Re: The Cricket Thread
That was an awesome, all-round, disciplined innings by South Africa. Let's see the bowlers come to the party now. I'm keen to see what Tahir can do in this game.
Did you hear that Steve Waugh statistic on Radio 2000? They were saying that Waugh has been involved in the most runouts for any batsman (77, I think), of which he was the one run out only four times!Anakha56 wrote:I would hate to be the batsmen with Alviro, never know when you are going to be run out...
Re: The Cricket Thread
I must admit, I've quite enjoyed the Radio 2000 cricket commentary this series so far. Far better than they've been in past series.

To those watching, what is up with Taylor's funny looking helmet? It sure is unique in the sense I have never seen one like it.
