Only in very few of those benchmarks is that the case. Overall the 450 is much faster. I think your little Celeron e1500 is the cause of most of the problems now that I think of it. This morning I took my 450 out and put it in an old Semperon 2800+ rig(luckily it has PCIe) and guess what I saw. Yes when I ran Battlefield BC2 at 1600 X 900 in high I noticed lots of screen tearing but at lower settings the problem became less noticeable. So from this I think we can assume that you CPU is causing a bottleneck, so just run your games at a slightly lower resolution for now also turn off things like Antialiasing ......

A pentium 4 E5700? there is no such thing. I assume you are talking about a Pentium dual core E5700. Well my brother has a E5500 with a 9500GT and he has no real issues with it. So no it wont bottleneck your gfx and most games still only make use of 2 cores so the quad wont make much difference other than having far more cache memory.

Weird I didn't think a cpu bottleneck would cause screen tearing, coz my old cpu just caused my games to lag like an ordinary graphics lag. But lower graphics settings sorted that problem out quickly:)

Yes, the minute its still or close to that no problem. so i did some more digging (phew its on its 4th page :O) so i uninstalled the ati drivers completley and put back my old 9500gt but weird is i removed my nvidia drivers and then walah they were there already loaded so the problem is not there with my 9500gt so which brings me to the point i have taken out my 6670 and boxed it until i get a better system i might buy a new board and a dual core e5700 at the end of this month as a quick upgrade.

So is the screen tearing not all that noticeable then? Screen tearing is something that happens on most PC's at some point so if it is not that noticeable then all is well.

no its the same but does not offer often, it comes and goes and in games its 99% gone so i basicaly nerfed it as much as i could but im still skeptical about it but owel i geuss i will have to wait till my upgrade comes to see if the problem continues.

So i figured out the problem, Ati cards are known for hating 60 hz refresh rates when i bumped mine up to 75 hz but loosing to 1400 by 900 poof the problem is gone competly so there is no fix as of yet. Weird huh?

Hang on, so they hate 60Hz. But that is the single most common refresh rate used :? . And are you sure your monitor actually supports 1440 x 900 @ 75Hz....because in my experience very few monitors do. I think most if not all of the problem was caused by conflicting drivers. I probably should have thought of that one as I have had this problem before on an old PC.

But thankfully your problem is fixed now :)

Yes weird it is......But then most PC issues can be solved in this way. Like Cod4 multiplayer will only run if I have a microphone plugged in, and apparently that is a very common issue.

Mine did not need that fix until the v1.7 patch -_-, i play on cod4 a lot do u? mostly on the iGame Charlie and some times on the iGame Delta server. So now i LOVE my 6670 xD 35 fps average in dragon age 2 on high vsync on and 4x aa 4x af and the rest off. I want to ask is a quad core really necessary for gaming?

Yes I do play Cod4 often but not always online. I LAN that game mostly. About the quad......for gaming no you dont need a quad as very few games are actually going to use more than 2 cores. And I have the v1.7 patch but I still need the mic plugged in....but disabling the auto front jack detection gets around the problem.

How far will this get me:
Foxconn g41mxp DDR3 lga 775 sata 2
4 gigs Kingston 1333mhz ram Gaming.
Intel Pentium Dual core E5700 3.0 ghz With a custom cooler Thermaltake TT-A4013D TR2-M13SE CPU Cooler & Fan for LGA775 then O.c the cpu up til around 3.5 ghz.
And a new psu huntkey 585 jumper series green power.
Will that give my graphics full room or will it still bottle neck it?

It will definitely have "full room" but do you really need a new mobo and ram? What is wrong with the current one?

Having DDR3 on a socket 775 system is going to make almost no difference as the memory controller is located in the northbridge and your CPU wont make use of the extra bandwidth. Also that 5.5 for the ram is ok. So for a cheap upgrade I would go and get the Pentium E5700 and put it in your existing system. But if you can get a DDR3 supporting mobo and ram for almost no money then go for it as DDR3 is much cheaper(4Gb will cost only around R200)

Why not?? You can always get that core 2 quad that you talked about. I know that these days a dual core is not very exciting and something with 4 cores or more is what you want. But for your needs a dual core is more than enough, I still love my E7500 and it does what I want more than well enough......good for overclocking too
