Should we look at including the karma system? Does anyone else know of a different phpBB karma system to be looked at?

Yes I know we said no. But hey if we have a separate thread with the phpBB mod link to look at maybe we can discuss it better?

It is kinda similar to the bookface Like feature, only there is also a "dislike" option for rating a user's posts

Re: Karma System? Discuss!
A karma system is where a person will earn positive or negative points. To give an example:
Someone creates a thread asking for technical help. You then respond with the correct answer that person can then give you a positive karma point. if there was someone who trolled the thread or called the OP a "n00b" he/she can give them a negative karma point. It can be abused however so it would be best to limit this to tech related threads...

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

Karma . . . no thanks. It sounds good in theory but, frankly, I'm not sure we can trust people to use it as it should be used.

Fine with me, but unfortunately I don't have the final say.Bladerunner wrote:Just give it a darn test run for goodness' sake.Stuart wrote:Karma . . . no thanks. It sounds good in theory but, frankly, I'm not sure we can trust people to use it as it should be used.
For the record, I'm not totally posed to a thanks button. It's the negative rep thing that usually causes hissy fits.
I honestly don't fear misuse from you or Bladerunner. But someone sooner or later is bound to start negative repping everyone because they happen to disagree that Twilight was The Best Movie Ever.doo_much wrote:You don't hold us plebs in high regard do you?Stuart wrote:Karma . . . no thanks. Would like to create a simple yes no poll to gauge interest. Karma in the tech threads could work...
I wonder what would happen to the forum if we disabled it after using it?

Ah - I could tell them they should vote quickly - but then I could be misleading them
Tell me sweety - we are doing the voting here. What assurances do we have that our Ronny will carry out the result - even if he is against it?
