There is one serious downside to those pures. I'm starting to do all those no-no's one should never do. Like deep corner braking with the front brakes
I know I shouldn't on the road but it's just so damn easy with those tyres.

For general road-riding sure, but they don't really give good feedback on the track. If they let go they let go. Dunlop, Pirelli, Metzeler will all slide first and warn you, but with Michelins you're gonna collect your bike in the gravel trap.

Ah yeah, those aren't that hot. The Dunlop Sportmax (Q2 for US) are immense, brilliant tyres. Then there's the D209 and D211's. Holy *****. That's all I can say. You'd be hard pressed to find similar grip, even from slicks!

I don't know how much time you've got available, but my main source of tracktime is gonna come from Redstar Raceway in the near future. R200 for the afternoon session Wednesday or Friday and you're getting at least 5x20min sessions in, possibly more. There isn't better value for money than that!

I have the Sportmax as well, they suck. The Bridgstones on my previous bike were much better.

Red star is about an hour away from me (if you drive like a sane law abiding citizen). What time does the track open for afternoon sessions? Used to saterday and sunday full day sessions

Depends on which Metzelers. Interact K3's are the OEM tires found on the S1000RR and they are very grippy in the dry, but not so much in the wet. They also won't last too long. There's also the Racetech K0/1/2's (I've got K1's on my bike) and they are very very good.

Honestly, for a road-going bike, Michelin Pilot Power 2CT or Pilot Road 2, depending on how aggressive you are. Pirelli Angel ST's aren't too bad either.

I really don't like Bridgestones though. The BT016's are all-right for the road, but even their premier race cut-slick BT003 isn't that great. They take ages to get to operating temperature.

I've you're willing to sacrifice mileage for grip, Pirelli Diablo Supercorsas, Metzeler Racetechs, Dunlop Sportsmarts

Indeed. You can't (well, sortof) really use the power on the roads. It's just stupid. It's quite an easy swap-over though, so if I feel the need for a brekkie run I can just slap the road kit on again. But the target is to start racing next year, gotta work on my form and pace this year.

I'd personally go for the Yamaha FZ1.

Awesome design and colour on that.

Then again, if I had proper choice, I'd get a 2006 Kawasaki Z1000 (Not the 2007+ models, I want from 2003 to 2006 only). Painted in black and that is Street-Fighter defined.

The Z1000's are great bikes, but like the Bandit's they flood the streetfighter scene so you really have to trick it out to stand out from the others.

I really like the sound of v-twin motors which will influence my decision surely. Though nothing can compare to the sound of the Ducati Desmosedici V4. Check the youtube vid with 14million views, yowza!

I personally would go for the Honda or Yamaha. It's got that subtle hint of beastliness that only shows when you tap the throttle

I'm also leaning towards the CB1000. If it were to be a twin it should be either the Ducati Hypermotard or KTM Superduke.

The CB1000 is too common a bike. The Aprillia (that's the Shiver, right?) does look awesome to me though. And those other two, it think it's Benelli? also get a

As does the FZ1. Not a bad bike for a Yammie.

Also not ont the list, but gets me drooling every time is the Kawa Z750. Do want.

I don't think the CB is that common, I've actually only ever seen two. One that a mate of mine had and one at a trackday.

The first thing I noticed about the Benelli was the triple engine, then I noticed it was a Benelli so I continued down the list

If you're buying in the middle range (ala Z750) you're buying the wrong bike if you're not buying a Street Triple R.
