I'd rather not "just give it a shot and see." I only want to do it if I KNOW I can avoid downloading the game. Otherwise I'll just buy it from the shops.
Okay. So seeing as how I'm socially inept and all, I'm not sure if I should mind my own business now or if I get to ask why you wanted to get it off steam in the first place, and why you're so against downloading when you have a WA account and a 4mbps line?
Um, it'll still be quicker for me to go to the shops and grab it than it will be for me to download it. Quicker still if I can borrow the install discs from my friend.

Ah okay. I like having my games on my Steam account because I can't look after discs. They end up scratched like a bedpost at Tribble's.

Nope, those are at the Main office. My post will be in this weekend's Tribune - and you need a library and an IT qualification.

However, my cyber post will be here soon....

Oh and Syko, you can stay with me :) i have enough space...
"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

Cool! Credit cards are evil though, so be careful... :o Especially when they team up with Steam against you.

Try telling this to a group of 30 students who tell you you're wrong because their textbook says so. I spent about 30 minutes arguing with them until the lecturer told me to be quiet or leave.

In retrospect, it's kinda funny.

Erm, no. DSL works over standard analog copper wire. Standard voice communication over the phone line only uses frequencies up to 4kHz; DSL uses higher frequencies (up to 4MHz). The higher frequencies permit more bandwidth to be transmitted over existing copper wire, although higher frequencies are more prone to attenuation the further the subscriber is from the exchange (which is why you get higher speeds if you're closer to the exchange). The original ADSL specification could deliver 8Mbps to the subscriber over around 2 km of copper wire (further than that and maximum throughput decreased); the newest specification (ADSL 2+) can get you up to 24Mbps. Telkom has recently made a whole lot of exchanges ADSL 2+ compatible but currently do not support speeds greater than 10Mbps.

ISDN is a throwback to the old dial-up days, when your dial-up modem would use the same 4kHz voice frequency as voice communications and hence tie up a phone line. It could offer up to two services (one of phone, data, fax) over a single line, with the line being digital rather than analog. It's still useful in certain applications, but for home consumers wanting to download moar interwebs, it's far better to use the existing analog infrastructure and use DSL.

In terms of slots, we've evolved from ISA to PCI and now PCI Express. ;)

He knows that.

He was posting the idiocy of what he "learned" at UNISA.

See the straight face at the end there?

I think you need to move out of CT...

Perhaps you could throw them out if you are not using them, D33.

I am still trying to force myself to get rid of my clutter, but I have become so attached to it that it is difficult to get my emotions out of the way
and behave like a rational human being would.
