Re: Latest Purchases Thread
Avatar is an awesome blu-ray - i just had to get myself a copy
Legends of Jazz - Showcase is a compilation of some Jazz tracks from a TV show - this disc was the first recoded in Dolby trueHD and as such has found its way into a list of the top 100 demo discs made - this list can be found here
http://www.hometheatermag.com/movierevi ... ndex2.html
check at the bottom for the other categories - this link just gives you the music recommendations
then i got the following cheap CD's ie they were all under 50 bucks besides for the KennyG double cd which was R79 but these were cheap enough
but this is the one i was truly after - its only for fans of early 90's funky Jazz
Asus Z68-V Pro/Gen3, i5-3570k, 16GB Kingston Hyperx DDR3-1600, Gigabyte Radeon HD6970 OC graphics card, Corsair H100 liquid cpu cooling, Lite-on Blu-ray burner, Western Digital Raptor X HDD, Gigabyte Sumo 5115 modded case, Samsung P2770 monitor
Re: Latest Purchases Thread
Hey naughty, some good stuff there, the jazz is awesome. Avatar the movie did not impress me but you obviously like the blue ray aspect of it.

Kenny G!?
Re: Latest Purchases Thread
yeah inbetween the bubblegum he has one or two gemsryanrich wrote:Kenny G!?
in the breathless CD it turns out to be "G-Bop" while in the songbird collection in disc one it turns out to be "Slip of the tongue" and in disc two it's "Brazil" and "Desafinado" - those tracks actually demo your audio system of to its max whilst "G-Bop" and "slip of the tongue" are the type of old school funky jazz fusion that i really enjoy
the rest is "elevator music" ie the type of stuff you would hear in the lift of a 5 star hotel and get irritated by, but some of it is averagely okay. His backing band is always excellent and you cannot deny that he does have a smidgeon of talent - so at 40 bucks a pop its still well worth the buy
its not about the story - the CGI is outstanding - and the picture clarity and quality is intense and the DTS HD master audio soundtrack is absolutely brilliant - so to show off the capabilities of your playback system this disc is just one one of the best. Remember that the blu-ray isnt one of those gimmicky 3D jobbies so it looks fantastic especially on my big screen TV and as i have said you have to hear the sound to believe itAvatar the movie did not impress me but you obviously like the blue ray aspect of it

I recently bought Flatout: Ultimate Carnage (I'm a huge Flatout fan). This morning I bought Borderlands and two of the DLCs.
