Nissan GT-R in SA - and here's what it'll cost
Nissan SA has finally announced its showroom price for the long-awaited Nissan GT-R all-wheel driver supercar - and it's due in showrooms here shortly.
The numbers? R1 175 000.
The South African vehicles will come in two trim specification levels - Premium Edition and Black Edition - the latter with black wheels, red leather inserts on the seats and red detailing on the door releases.
The price includes a four-year or 50 000km service plan and a three-year or 100 000km warranty.
Sad sauce

Yeah, I've seen that one a couple of times. I doubt that car was actually purchased here though. Then again, I don't know a thing about cars, so anything I say is voidWiK1d wrote:Uhm, they have been around for quite a while already?

BTW, I drove past a freaking WHITE one yesterday.

Mike Tyson is also not the prettiest thing around, but he will knock you the f*** OUT!
What this means is that you will get less posers driving this thing and more people who appreciate performance.
So, anyone wanna donate 1.25m to my GTR fund?

True dat, luckily the GTR is not so savage. Unless your name is Jeremy Clarkson and you attempt to drive the car faster than your aging body can handle, you should be fine.Prime wrote:actually I think He will bite your ears off first, rendering you unable to driveGreyWolf wrote:Mike Tyson is also not the prettiest thing around, but he will knock you the f*** OUT!

Re: Nissan GT-R in SA - and here's what it'll cost
Seen any posers in an XJ220 lately, Or a DB9 for that matter. Both are very beautiful cars. The XJ220 is though considered a supercar which is much more than I can say for that but ugly thing. Hell even a Zonda looks better than that thing and that sais a lot as I am not really a zonda fan. TBH I think they spoiled the whole thing about the car. It used to be a kick bottom performer but not much to look at. It might still be a performer, not kick bottom I might add, but now you can't even look at the thing.
This is still the best a GT-R will ever look.

True, the R33 and R34 were better lookers, but hey, they can't use the same design again. I must say that I prefer this car to a Zonda, a maserrati and most other cars in its class (class is defined as too much for me to afford)

I agree , in the looks department the R34 is by far the better looking, but the R35 is all about the performance and handling.

Re: Nissan GT-R in SA - and here's what it'll cost
I your hands those lap times will mean absolutely nothing. I want to see you do a lap time of under 10minutes in that car around the ring. You'll get scared before you get even get close to the performance barrier of any car never mind the GT-R. BTW all of those lap times are posted by manufacturers and you actually trust them *shakes head*. Personally I'd prefer a Lotus Exige over this any day. Small zippy, nice looking IMHO and not all as impractical as anything else in its class.GreyWolf wrote:Posers in DB9s are a dime a dozen, never mind that the Nissan will eat the Aston as an appetizer BEFORE breakfast, and a Porsche and a Koenigsegg and a ...RuadRauFlessa wrote:Seen any posers in an XJ220 lately, Or a DB9 for that matter. OMW A Lexus beat a Nissan GT-R... Nooo this can't be. Just have a look. Evan a corvette, which is by all accounts has notoriously bad handling, is faster around the ring.
BTW when last did you see someone drive around in a DB9. I know you can't really compare the two as the DP9 will set you back almost twice that of a GT-R. And don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that the GT-R is a bad car or an even worse buy. To me they just took the Micky out of it. Something eccentric is supposed to look that way. Take a Shelby GT500 for instance. It looks the part although you won't find me dead in one of those as they simply are deathtraps.

Re: Nissan GT-R in SA - and here's what it'll cost
Yes, I may not be able to do the lap times posted, but I will certainly do a faster lap time in the GTR than the Koenigsegg (anyone want to sponsor this event btw? its purely a scientific endeavor and I will try and not jump and scream like a little girl who just got a pony). Also, I am pretty sure the Nissan will last a whole lap without bits falling off.
The Lexus in question was an LF-A...not your ordinary rep-saloon, and the new 'Vettes are actually quite good handlers. In any case both these cars are not wht one would call standard production models.
Come work in the Rivonia area, I swear you would think the economic crisis is a work of fiction judging by the number of Astons driving around.
I like the GTR BECAUSE its ugly. It is function over form, and it means business, despite what you may thin of the 'ring lap times posted.
