American Remake of Death Note

Post by Faltzer »

"American movie studio Vertigo Entertainment is apparently working on a remake of the popular franchise “Death Note,” which has been turned into three live-action films in Japan. A soon to be named live action movie is been produced with Disney's Zac Effron from High School Musical as Yagami Light."

i don't know what's worse, the fact that they're remaking Death Note into an american version, or the fact that Zac Effron is playing Light - WTF?

Here's a pic:

I hate Zac... He irritates me.

Death Note already has live action movies, although lately it seems like America is too stupid to think of new ideas and are making live actions of the popular anime series...

Considering all we have really seen poor Zac in is High School Musical 1 through 14, I don't think it is fair to judge him too harshly just yet. Clearly he is intent on not getting type-cast, and is thus trying to portray something completely different to the singing, dancing disney-douche we have come to know.

That said, excuse me whilst I roll my eyes and throw up at yet another Hollywood remake...

I haven't seen any of the High School Musicals, although he still irritates me none the less :D

I don't think that will change, not soon at least.

You will get a lot of young girls watching it if they cast him in the role. And isn't that what you guys want? A lot of young ladies interested in anime?

Don't lie... We all know you like your loli's :P

I wont bother watching the American live action version. Also young girls wont get into anime, they its just based off an anime series. I highly doubt many would even know that it originated from the Death Note series which is Japanese. ;) :(

Thats true. They'll probably buy a few light plushies and call deathnote an a animated version of Zac but they wont go the anime route. Anime chooses the fan not the other way around.
