Does someone driving down the M13 in the wrong carriageway (fast lane too) count?

What does man fear most? That no one will understand him, or that someone truly might?

Re: The craziest thing you've seen lying on the road?
that happened with me once but it was a trailer wheel and my dad started singing u picked a fine time to leave me loose wheelScreeper wrote:1 - I've driven through a herd of Elephants at night time in Botswana. 120km/h straight through the herd which was milling around on the main road. Didn't even see them until we were amongst them. Still can't believe we didn't hit one.
2 - In Zimbabwe once we came across hundreds of chameleons crossing the road, there was a stretch of about 100m of just a sea of chameleons. Took us ages to get through.
3 - a red and silver 15 inch rim once overtook me on the freeway, and I was like, 'haha check it out, someone's wheel has come off.......hmm it looks exactly like mine....CRASH'
It was my wheel Didn't cause a big crash though, I just skidded to a halt in the emergency lane with my left rear wheel missing.
THE GAME........YOU Have JUST LOst It !!!!!!!!!!

Re: The craziest thing you've seen lying on the road?
I almost got hit by a double bed flying of a bakkie on the N3 highway. Forunetly did not hit me.
The obvious road kill, dogs and snakes.
I hit a guy running across the road, no major damage to him not my car though.
Some accident scenes, think I saw a guy split in two meters apart from each other on my way down to Durbs.

Person lying on the white line. My friend was driving and we stopped to move him and he had gotten up, but was really drunk. My friend had narrowly avoided him and as we passed, there was another car next to us so he was right in the middle!
This is also a known hijacking tactic, so we parked around the corner and walked to go find him and give him crap. The area was too full of people for him to be a hijacker and with a shebeen around the corner this type of thing happens often. People living in JHB might know the area, it was on Ontdekkers coming out of Deleray. Notorious place for peds getting mowed down.
I've swerved for bricks and dead dogs a few times on the highway as well.

Once I was driving on the N3 toward town (DBN), slow lane....I look to the left and I see a police car.....A few seconds later, it hits me that cars on the other side don't usually travel in the same direction as you The guy was even doing the same speed as me, I could have waved

I'm confused. Slow lane is left. Was the cop driving off the road or something?WoolyBadBaba wrote:Once I was driving on the N3 toward town (DBN), slow lane....I look to the left and I see a police car.....A few seconds later, it hits me that cars on the other side don't usually travel in the same direction as you The guy was even doing the same speed as me, I could have waved

Ever been to or through Kokstad?
Everyday things happen. Mad people who walk with money in their hands and mouth.. A taxi stopping in the middle of the road so a woman can give birth..
Traffic officers blocking both direction traffic to give someone a ticket. Well, once I parked on the pavement in town and ended up having a traffic cop park infront of me, to write me a ticket..
Just one or two things that happened in the past week.
Hmmm

Guinefowl (tarentaal) stuck in our bakkie's bullbar. Drove like that from pta to durbs, and in durbs we gave it to a taxi driver and it was his dinner

On the last day of school a guy in a green sentra hit a school girl in front of the zebra stripes at 60kmh
then there was the usuals; dead cows, dismembered arms and legs and the occasional streaker

Severed arms seem to be a party favourite. Strange, you think someone would miss them...
I remember a van carrying a double bed making a sudden stop at a traffic light - I think he was going to run it, but then noticed a pedestrian about to cross. Anyway, the van stops, the double bed rips off the roof, lauches off and slides a few meters but not before tripping up the pedestrian who falls onto the bed and goes for a short ride. The absolute surprised looked on his face will live with me for ages! No-one hurt luckily...

Re: The craziest thing you've seen lying on the road?
Scenario 1
On my first day in my new job, I took an onramp to the M13.
The M13 has two roads, parallel to each other. One road per direction.
I pulled into the middle lane.
Coming towards me, in the fast lane, was a mother sized truck.
O_o
My theory, was its brakes failed on top of the hill, so it bailed to the other side.
Scenario 2
Going home from Gateway late one evening.
All I saw were white teeth, until a black body materialized.
I was awake after that one

There are 10 types of people in this world.

Re: The craziest thing you've seen lying on the road?
Driving South on the N2 near Amanzimtoti we came across a girl driving on the fast lane.....towards us!! Called a cop friend and told him about it, they stopped her a few km later, she didn't even realise she was driving on the wrong side of the freeway, she thought it was a two way road!!!
