nah dude, he was not biased. he compared it to the old civic type r, which he had nothing but praise 4.

anyhoo, back on topic, rx8>Renault.

he's more geared toward Ferrari's and the like.
Actually he's bored of them...Ferraris I mean.

Those Honda V-tecs are damn nice and well made too. Reliable hey.

Also Rotary makes a bucket load of power. They loved it on top gear.

Thanks for all your feedback, now I really can't decide :) ... but I seem to be leaning slightly to keeping the RX8. I will make my decision once I see the car today properly and take a spin in it.

Well I can say one pro about getting the Renault is that the insurance will cost me a whole R550 less a month, although I think I could get a cheaper rate on the Mazda. What you guys are saying about the Renault’s maintenance is making me a bit skeptical even though it is still under warranty and maintenance plan.

I did have the Peugeot 206 GTI 180 before the Mazda and I must say maintenance was expensive cr@ppy on that French car and I had to take it back 3 times to get that anti-pollution fault fixed... which still was faulty when I got rid of the car...

No guess where my vote's going...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and ask, what about vtec? Those Type-R's go like stink, I'll also wager a guess and say it's relatively same performance class? (Though I stand to be corrected.)
LOL you cant compare 1300 VS a 2L in this case.

Its like comparing a 250cc two Stroke against a 400cc four stroke, the 250 will be just as fast if not faster.

obviously you don't know as much about rotary's as you do about CA18s.

stick to your detonating 200sx mate, and leave rotary discussion to the ones who know
Ouch That hurt

OK heres some proof:

CONCLUSION
HP Level HP+ TQ Level TQ+
Baseline 181.0 128.6
Racing Beat Rev I Intake 185.2 4.2 132.2 3.6
Racing Beat Street Exhaust 187.2 2.0 131.2 -1.0
Racing Beat Race Exhaust 188.4 1.2 132.9 1.7
Final 188.4 7.4 132.9 4.3

URL: http://www.importtuner.com/powerpages/0 ... _beat.html

quote" Although the RX-8 was rated at 238 hp at the flywheel from Mazda, we were only able to muster 181.0 hp to the wheels from it. That is almost a 24-percent loss of horsepower through the drivetrain!

WOW all that money and the RX8 only gained 7HP (5KW) at the wheel guess my estimate was a bit too high.
Also remember before you go flying the 1300cc it’s still regarded as a 6 cylinder at most race events and uses a bit more fuel then most 6 cylinders if not all also there are a few N/A race rotors out there with very peaky power bands but most are boosted and not 0.5 bar boost most run way over that, I have a lot of respect for rotors as race motors but as an everyday motor not so much there are smother, more fuel efficient, more powerful, less oil burning, less hard starting engines out there

If the RX8 came with a 13B-REW or was turbocharged in anyway then I would say keep the car but if you have the cash and can take the deprecation experienced when trading it in then go for any of the new turbocharged cars. For every day driving it will give you more pleasure better fuel economy and the same comfort level if you are a die hard petrol head that must have a Rotor in your life then feel free if you’re an everyday guy that wants all the things listed above then I would trade.

Hope I’m not stepping on toe’s here

But of course, That's the beauty of a rotary and exactly why I said what I did :P

Correct, and speaking of boost, a rotary only really shines once you chuck a turbo onto that motor, as I believe the compression ratio is already relatively low at stock

As for choosing between the Mazda and the Renault, you already have the Mazda, if it's its such a close call, why not just keep it? Less hassle and less money at the end of the day...

Is it OK to add spinners to a car with a rotary engine or is it just trying too hard?

:?

spinners would look horrific!

pimp it out as in with a solid body kit, and mod the engine.

I know I know-I hate spinners as well. It was a joke mate, since it's a rotary.
Yes I would also mod the engine but I would stick to the Mazda alternate body kit(If you know what I mean?).

Keep the Mazda and dont pimp the body please.

Do what ever you need to the engine, but leave the body as is.
