I am toying with the idea of doing something
[hopefully not TOO drastic] about a job I am not enjoying much.
It was suggested to me that I try going for an aptitude test.
I know that there are free Aptitude tests offered online
Tickle.com's for example, but I don't know how reliable these are.
Are these worth trying or should I pony up hundreds of rands to have it
done by someone who administers such tests and analyses their results.
[I use a roundabout description as I am not sure of what to call such
people [that is career counsellers?/psychologists?]]
What I am sure of is that I most definitely do NOT want to have to endure
another IQ test.....

The Value of Online Aptitude Testing
"Humankind cannot bear very much reality." T.S. Elliot
Twit.... I had a long chat to our HR manager regarding aptitude tests that I want some of my staff to do.... I wil see if I can talk her into letting me have a copy of the tests They have nothing to do with IQ but rather with the sort of inherent skills you have. I'm kinda loathed to trust the oneline stuff unless its done by a reputable website, and atm I don't really know of any that you can access unless you are part of the organisation and have a password.
"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

I would defenitely consider making use of an Industrial Psychologist, get a quote first to check what you are getting into. There is another source that we use in our company! They are known as THOMAS INTERNATIONAL and Dianne can be emailed at: Diana De Boer [DianaD@thomas.co.za]! They are excellent and it may all be done via email or fax!
I agree with Jee's comments about straight Web tests.
