I would just like to know what the moderator's job is. Are you in charge of a certain forum or what?

Mostly a mod cleans up duplicate posts or if neccessary, moves posts to another area - for instance, a thread about hardware in the chill out section they would move to hardware.

Occasionally, they can step in to warn about a flame war that may be developing and very very rarely, close a thread that is going nowhere.

They have the power to edit other peoples posts of offensive stuff - and to post warnings in someones posts.

If people want to, they can PM a moderator to tell them of abuse or something that they feel is abuse.

For the most part, a moderator is a house keeper.

Cameron, you should consider applying for a job with Valve, I think you would fit right in there. 8)

We all understand you are busy with more urgent matters, but perhaps you should not keep making promises of deadlines that are impossible to meet. Just say "Hey, I'm busy, I'll get it done as soon as I can. Now p*ss off."

Maybe one of those plastic ones with "braai master" or "I'm only here for the beer" written on it :)

Angry Rabbit - your living up to your nick name !

Cameron is merely following the Zen ways of Valve software and resisting the evil temptation to do it the id software way "when it's done !"

Oy you lot! Stop nagging so much. You all do a damn fine job of moderating yourselves when someone throws their toys, so the need for mods is not exactly urgent, is it now? Leave our Loskop in peace to find all the goodies for the next CDs or I'll send Jee a whip to crack at your little buns!

*hee hee evil cackle at the thought of angry bumnies twitching*

Oi, careful! they might like it and then I will be in need of a physio!
"Integrity" and "integer" both contain a Latin root meaning "whole; complete." The root sense, then, is that people may be said to be acting with integrity when their beliefs, words, and actions have a sense of unity or wholeness.

I have no interest in getting moderators for the site either. I don't want to be a moderator, and I am not even sure that we need them. All I wanted to point out is that Cameron keeps making and breaking commitments to this site and it's members. I'm not just talking about this forum. There have been numerous occasions when he has been unable to keep his word, (for whatever reason).

Remember when we first heard the site was getting upgraded? It was delayed about a month before it actually happened. That's when the first talk of moderators, new emoticons and a ranking system first appeared. (about 6 months ago). Now I can't remember the exact words, but Cameron told us that these would be implemented soon afterwards. Well, where are they?

Now I know this sounds like I'm complaining about the site, but I'm not. I don't care If i'm "rated" number 1 or 1000 - who cares anyway? I just think that Cameron should be more upfront with us. If he might not be able to implement something for 6 months, just say so.

Look, the guy has a job to do.

Upgrades to the forum are not a life or death matter - Madgic is right that we should just cut cameron some slack.

If he has days like some of the ones I've had recently (hectic) - and I'm sure he does and then some - making little changes to a forum is hardly priority number one.

As far as moderators are concerned, all we really need them for is to keep the forum tidy.

i.e. - double posts, posts that are obviously in the wrong section and for the occassional idiot who appears and starts causing trouble (this does happen on occassion)

Other than that, the forum moderates itself.

I would rather say that the ppl on the forum moderates themselves rather than the forum moderates itself.
