So, it turns out the meet was awkward, but only for me. :? Was a group of nice people having a good time, with me sitting to one side, only uttering the occasional awkward joke. Was interesting though. Rusty is not the curmudgeon I thought he was. :P

Some topics covered (in no particular order, with some omissions):

KY Jelly, E-tolling, game theory, weather modelling, wedding stuff, medical AIDS, KY Jelly, etc.

An experience.

That's his dream job. (Second only to working on set the next Avengers movie, of course.) The reality is a touch starker.

You could take a chalet at the Rhino and Lion park. The little lion cubs are so cute to play with.

Shame mousey - don't frighten him away. Next you will be suggesting Joubert Park or Boksburg.

He could also go down Bella bella way (the old Limpopo province) or stay in Santon. Let his lady have a shopping holiday ;-) They could even see a movie in 3D!

My lady? Everywhere she'd be would be my holiday.

Now, the issue of Rusty's profession has come up and it seems to be some kind of a secret for some reason. So, here are a few options I'm wondering about:

Pet Taxidermist
Mortician
Debt Collector
Tax Auditor
Umkhonto We Sizwe recruiter
Whisky taste tester
Gaffer for Urban Brew Productions
Herbalife merchandiser
Archie colourist
Food Critic
Lizard sanctuary owner
Bond Company Stooge

Any of these close?

I would have described his job something like this:
Spoiler (show)
Plugging the holes in dykes to keep the red juice at bay.
