Internal team structure changes

Post by Ron2K »

In light of recent events, Nab and I have decided to restructure things somewhat. I won't go into detail too much, but will basically post what the changes are.

Basically, we've decided to put someone more "people-orientated" to lead the admin/mod team -- I'll be the first to admit that I have a serious lack of people skills. Stuart has accepted this position, and will henceforth be in charge of such issues pertaining to the day to day moderation of the boards.

I will still be around, but will assume a more technical role -- my focus will be on the technical running on this forum only, and I will no longer involve myself in forum issues outside of this role.

I'll be creating a "How to deal with forum issues"-type thread up shortly that will serve as a point of reference for the above.

Please post all questions/comments in this thread.

Well, none of this makes much sense, since none of us have any idea as to what happened. I'm happy for Stuart of course, but jee and RRF have been here forever. We will all miss them a lot.

This place grows smaller by the day...

Either way, grats Stu. Will be keeping an eye on this thread.

Grats Stu.

Must say I am very unhappy with the 2 members getting banned though. Especially cos it was so out of the blue...

We're working on a custom title for the Rat

My initial suggestion for a signature, which was an avant garde piece of ascii art was rejected because some people with dirty minds suggested it was a merely a crude rendering of a part of the male anatomy...

Philistines...

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

They are not going to tell us. I wonder if banning wasn't a little harsh - demotion or warning would have made more sense. I am still scouring the threads to see some indication (evidence) of why they were banned. If they harmed the reputation of the staff - there has to be some public evidence of this. To me this came out of the blue.

Figure of speech.

What happens in the Admin Lounge, stays in the Admin Lounge.

Let's not go digging or looking for tribble. Whatever reason the Powers that Be had for making this decision, and whatever it was that prompted it, was most likely carefully considered, and discussed, and not a decree that was issued on the spur of the moment. Consider that we do not have access to the Multiverse's Ctrl-Z keys, I think it would be prudent to respect Nab's decision. There may be good reasons that he decided not to publish precisely what it was that lead to this.

Yes, this was a shock, and yes many of us will miss jee. She was an institution on these forums, and always had time for me. When I joined GEAR forums back in 2003, she was one of the first to make me feel welcome. Those of us who befriended her, will know where to find her.

Let's not do anything hasty. And remember: Do not meddle in the affairs of Administrators, for you are puny and the Banhammer is not.
