Nice flame there Prime.
I invite you to work on testing web based solutions when you have about 6 different browsers open, and then click that particular ambush rick-roll.

/on topic
I find it sad that the old vintage PCF is disappearing bit by bit. I miss the Cameron/Tamsini days.
Our cover girl that featured in the main article is gone.
Spelling/grammer mistakes got worse (my opinion.)
Gaming is taking center stage. NAG = gaming ... PCF = Focus on mainstream games for PC only, the rest should be anything else related to PC's. (Opinion again.)
The mag is getting thinner and thinner each year.
Now...Add to that the changes to this site.

From what I understood from the first post was : change the focus or close it down. PCF UK was not happy that this site existed. So the site had to tone down the PCF identity and the best way to do that and still keep it related - was the Gear brand. Now I could be wrong but that is how I understood it. So complaints aren't going to get you anywhere. Constructive criticisms will make the place more to your liking though.

@Sojourn - I take it that misspelling grammar as grammer was to illustrate your point? ;-)

You have old copies of the mag and a new copy to prove this assertion?
Sojourn wrote:Now...Add to that the changes to this site.
Changes which mean that more content can be published online. That makes it better, not so? How is this a negative thing?

out of curiosity has anyone taken a look at the reviews and explored all the content of the new site?

We are really interested in knowing what you think of the content side of the site as well as the forum changes.

Sigh. All I want is for the PC not to be relegated to some sub-forum when it was the main draw for most of us regulars. I understand that won't happen overnight, but it's the direction this forum will inevitably follow because G3AR is not a PC mag, and these are now the G3AR forums.

Exactly how popular is Gear? Is it worth merging PCF with it, and possibly losing more readers?

(I can't remember the last time I even noticed a G3AR mag on the shelves.)

No, that was by accident. But basic spelling and grammar is not integral to my line of work. It is for a publication.

G3AR returned to being bundled with PCFormat then it got merged as an extra section at the back of the mag.

KB, this is just opinion, but am sure it's relevant for not just me.

Personally I come to this forum for the interaction with other members.
The other content on the site is, well, just too random and sporadic. If I need info about particular hardware / software or game, using Google with an appropriate forum post yields a much better result that keeping an eye on the site articles or reviews.

That said, I did find value in the Noktua cooler article, I now run one on my i5.
That was the exception though...

I invite you to have a look at the 2000 to 2004 range and compare them to 2010/2011.
Case in point... G3ar and PCF merged, yet the page number of the mag didn't consistently go up, it remained the same.

Content very few people look at.

Fixed a few forum issues:
  • The "back to top" link on posts should be working properly now.
  • Got rid of the striped background and replaced it with pure black.
Please do a hard refresh (CTRL+F5) to clear out any cached CSS if you're experiencing any visual weirdness, before you report any problems.

On another note: let's keep this thread to forum issues related to the new look and restructuring only. Discussions about the magazine are off-topic for this thread; please post these concerns in this forum section.

The favicon hasn't changed yet, has it? Because refreshes still leave me with the old one.

The guys from the UK can take a long walk off a short pier.

PCF SA had a better site AND better forum. I say "had" because it seems they are now being handled by tech radar, so don't have anything of their own any more.

It has changed; it's the same one that the main site uses.

It's displaying correctly when I access the site through Safari - I only use that browser for various cross-browser compatibility tests that I run, which suggests that the old favicon is still cached on your end. ;)

Ah, okay, sorted now. Thanks.

The solid black also looks much better, although I admit that it would look better still if the header background graphic blended at the bottom with black rather than having a solid break.

But that's probably just personal opinion.

I still dont like seeing the PCF relegated to the back with G3AR being shoved directly in my face. Feels like a slap in the face, bought the mag for so many years as PCF and now its ... nothing ... Its sad... :(

*edit*

It feel wasted, having such a busy corner the top left and nothing in the middle and right. Its a waste of space...

You are right, it need a little something to fill the space....

possibly involving a woman, a bikini and a reclining position.
