Nokia ad is ok in my book. Some forums have flashing ads in the middle each time you load a page that stays there the during scrolling. Plus, the new Nokias are cool. (Nokia, I will promote you guys non stop, for a fee ).

Guys I really don't see what the probelm is. Its a freakin tiny thing in the top of the screen that in no way causes distraction on the level that some people are complainig about.

I have to say that I agree with GW here. I think it's typical knee-jerk reaction stuff here. Ads = EVOL!!!

I think the thread title should be changed to ads=aids

Now if KB would twist marketing's arm to give us an answer to this question, we can all know what to do with Adblock.

Yeah - I don't mind turning it off now and again if it makes them a bit of money (but don't expect me to keep it off for long, I love ad free posting)

One or two adds not a problem I'm all for PCF to make more $$$, 10 of them polluting my mind with things I don't need nor want with the constant haunting of a game that could just make have of us go mad. Lets hope not.

Please don't feed the troll. The advert above is part of a big sponsorship campaign around a series of learning to code for Ovi Store articles we are starting in July. We are running 3 installments in the magazine (remember that paper thing you lot used to buy ). Its a project I have been trying to put together for over a year that will essentially teach people to program applications for the Nokia store and hopefully make them some cash. Part of the package is advertising on the site and forum, something I am more than willing to allow as they have contracted software engineers on three different continents to help out with the project.

Additionally, while your value as forumites and our community is priceless, its your value as unique IPs that will enable the site to continue and improve. There are some big things in the pipe for our web presence but I don't have a hope of convincing my publisher to do anything unless there is a return. I can't say more as the firewalls have ears, I can however promise that things will only get better and you will all be kept in the loop!

Thanks for the explanation, Nab. It was asked earlier whether it's a pay-per-view or pay-per-click ad, but the question was never answered. If more ads are introduced, can I suggest that you give us the answer to that question. I know that I'll gladly turn off Adblock for PCF if you have pay-per-view ads, and I'm sure a few others would do the same.

I agree with the mouse - have not seen the ads because AdBlock is so good. But if I can help by turning it off - I will.

Hi peeps, the ad is part of a sponsorship deal so its prepaid. By all means do as you normally would - tweaking your behavior is counterproductive for both parties (although the sentiment is greatly appreciated!)

I was talking more about future ads that you might implement.

OK. So I never noticed the ads because the 'old' style didn't display them. But now that I've been press-ganged into using the 'new' carppy one, all I see is a big white rectangular nothingness in the right hand top corner.

What happened?
