Here in South Australia we’re 12 days without a new case and only 5 or so active cases. Looks like I’ll be heading back to work soon and business are starting to open again, gyms and restaurants to follow, with regulations in place.

There's talk on both sides of the Tasman of re-opening travel between AU and NZ. Neither country is going to do this though until both countries are confident that this will be safe to do.

And, it's now official from both governments: they are committed to allowing travel without quarantine between NZ and AU, but only when it is deemed safe as the health of both country's citizens remains priority (so, don't expect this for at least a few weeks at minimum).

Should have posted this back when NZ permitted the takeaways to re-open (back at the beginning of May), albeit under very strict guidelines relating to physical distancing.
McDonalds decided that, in the interests of physical distancing, only the drive-throughs would re-open. The result was inevitable: empty parking lot, but the drive-through queue threatening to cause chaos on the nearby main road (and shortly after I snapped this, it actually did!).

Things are starting to return to normal here, zero active cases in South Australia, restaurants are open for indoor dining again from today (limitations on patrons apply though), pubs from June 5th. Indoor sports as well, so wife’s netball is starting again next week.
My company is back at the office although I’m still working at home until June or so, just because I can and it suits me at the moment, but will be nice to see the guys again.
Problem is, what now? Keep borders closed forever? Currently South Australia is still closed off from the rest of the country. VIC and NSW are the only two states that allow free travel between each other.
Things in South Africa sound terrible in comparison though and that the government doesn’t have a clue, the rules make no sense at all and it doesn’t seem they have a clear path out of their lockdown. I worry about my parents over there in Cape Town.

And we have a health minister (that shouldn't be one) - saying that people should not smoke or drink until level 1. Most people have not stopped either - they are just using substandard tobacco and alcohol (making our own)

Only 8 active cases remaining in NZ. It's very likely that we're close to totally eradicating COVID-19, and in fact may have already done so.

Our last active case is now recovered, and given that no new cases have been reported in the past 17 days, we may well have eradicated COVID-19 entirely.
We're now moving to Level 1 at midnight, so life returns to something close to what pre-virus normal was: no more social distancing measures or restrictions on mass gatherings. The border remains closed to all but NZ citizens and residents, and contact tracing measures remain, as there remains a high risk that the virus could return through international travel.
