Cape Town – Jack Parow's attempt at a prank has failed miserably after it surfaced on Thursday that he wasn't detained on charges for disturbing the peace near Northam, reports JIP.

On Wednesday, Parow's managent as well as Oppikoppi organisers circulated a statement saying the rapper has been detained after he and some friends caused a disturbance at the Vaalkop dam near Northam.

Shortly after, Parow posted a video on his Facebook page allegedly shot at the police station where he was being detained, saying that he will not be performing at Oppikoppi.

According to the statement "Parow and a friend took a catamaran out on a joy ride on the dam at about 1:30 am on Wednesday morning. After repeated requests over loud hailers Parow and his friend finally returned to shore."

Parow and his friend reportedly co-operated with police, but tried to explain that they had simply "borrowed" the boat.

No arrest

After smelling a rat, Channel24 made numerous attempts to contact Parow's management, who could not be reached for comment.

According to JIP, provincial North West spokesperson Captain Pelonomi Makau confirmed that Parow was not arrested, but that police were called out to the Vaalkop Dam due to complaints of a disturbance.

"We received a call from people complaining about noise. The police officers arrived there and said they must be quiet," Makau said.

According to the Oppikoppi website, Parow is scheduled to perform on Saturday morning at 01:00 on the James Philips main stage.

So the article begins by saying that his "prank attempt" has "failed miserably," but then it doesn't actually proceed to describe exactly how it "failed miserably." In fact, News24 itself reported the arrest this morning, so despite "Channel24 smelling a rat" it seems that the prank actually worked pretty well. :?

News24: the last bastion of credible news!

And by "last bastion of credible news!" I mean, "collection of nitwits"
