By great coincidence my 360 RROD'd on me last week.

To buy or not to buy. Now that's a question....

A surprising amount of modern pseudoscience is coming out of the environmental sector. Perhaps it should not be so surprising given that environmentalism is political rather than scientific.

Xbox one no longer needs always online...
Also featured on Gizmodo... seems that (for now) we might be able to look forward to buying it... and after connecting the Kinect, put a box over the stupid thing

Or, you know, save yourself the cost of a box and and the extra $100 and just get a PS4. It's more powerful anyway...

Just to clarify, xbone still needs an connection at launch. Just afterwards you won't need it.

In other words, you're not reading this now or you're reading this but you have limited internet connectivity you will still go for a ps4.

Hehe, MS already had 20 million units sold at launch. All those CoD players. And with BF dlc being first on xbone they might have added 4-5mil more even with its online thing.

this news make me sad. The reason I am so pro PS4 is because I feel this is a defining moment for gamers in particular and for software users in general. A big message needs to be sent: no more DRM! And the message needs to be loud and clear. It must echo through time! "Hey remember when Microsoft tried to force DRM on consumers? Hehe, yeah, and then no one bought the XBox One and then Microsoft lost so much money they closed the whole company, good times."

You're buying a console.

Hardware-based, outdated-before-launch, DRM which is licensed to the hilt and then some which leads to hugely inflated pricepoints on software, limited or non-existent upgrade functionality and designed to lock you in and monetise everything they can possibly hoist on you under the premise of "added service" and you think you're sticking it to the man...

Rusty I've already raised my opinion expressing that consoles/macs/hardware drm isn't an issue as long as you don't need someone else to get your stuff to work :P

I'm only pro PS4 because you can still play games out of the box.

The line has to be drawn somewhere Rusty. And "always on" internet connection is it. Once this has been established, then we can start pushing back. Also, at least Sony allows Indie game developers to self publish games on the PS4, while MS requires that developers go through one of the big publishers. As a player of Minecraft I am sure you would say that at least there is a valid reason not to go with the XBox One.
