Vodafone Driver Not Installing

Post by Koko_Lion »

Hello!

I reinstalled this laptop and put all the required apps back on.

When I plugged the 3G dongle in to install its software, it pops up with the locate driver windows window. I downloaded later software from the Vodacom site but windows refuses to load the driver.

In device manager it just says "K3805-z" with that yellow "!"

Any tips to fix this. As I said its a brand new install of Vindows

I have heard of people getting modems to detect drivers by removing any traces of previous installations and then inserting the modem with no SIM.

However, I have a friend who tried that and failed. He eventually tracked down this solution from MyBB, which worked for him. (Note, however, that he had a K3772-Z modem.)
friend's email wrote:1. Go to start menu
2. Run ‘regedit’
3. Open this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E96D-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4. In this key, find the “Installer32” string.
5. If the Microsoft Registration Key is missing, the key has to be added manually.
6. Create a “string” value named “Installer32”, and set it to “mdminst.dll,ClassInstall32”
5. Save the ‘regedit’
6. Open the device manage
7. Find the modem with problem; uninstall it and let windows detect again (or scan for hardware changes).
