cpu cooler

Post by PC G@MER 01 »

Hi guys I just upgraded from the normal intel 1156 cpu cooler to a cooler master tx3 but i see no difference except when I stress test it. Even when my father plays cards on the pc for 15 minutes the temps stay at 36°C. So whats wrong.

What CPU is it?
The ambient temp of the room and the make/model of the CPU will determine the idle temp

You could also get the software for your mobo to control PWM speeds (CoreCentre, Q-Fan, SilenTEK etc) and increase the fan speed. It's probably running at 40 or 50% now.

Another option is adding a second fan to the cooler

There is probably nothing is wrong with the cooler (unless you somehow messed up the install which I doubt), you just need to tweak it.

The problem is your wasting money. You already posted your looking at a new gfx card then you go and spend money that could have served you better into a cooling system. 36C for a cpu is low. My i7 idled at around 35C with a stock cooler and sometimes hit 60C. My gfx card use to hit 69-79C.

Short and to the point answer, nothing is wrong. It's working as intended (blizzard answer).

My cpu is a intel core i3 540 secondly its still spring last year my idle temp for summer on the same cpu with the intel cpu cooler was 47 degrees celcius and I stress tested the cpu with prime95 and the temps went up to 81 degrees after 7 minutes so that's why i upgraded. My cpu cooler is running at 100%.

Ok there is your biggest problem then. I assume it is a closed case? A front fan for air intake and back fan for getting the air out should lower your overall system temp by a good 20C minimum during the summer time. Airflow is key. Hence why I never saw those 80C cpu temps with my stock fan.

Ok what would you think of the following 3x80cm led fans 1x92mm led cpu fan with a deepcool rockman fan controler( my mobo only has 1 pin left)

Last time I put fans into my machine was over 4 years ago, prior to me buying my HAF-932. It helped a little but huge open spaces and cases designed for airflow in mind will blow you away with their reduced temperature.

Not sure the size of your case but even if you just have the 3 80mm fans the airflow should already help a good deal. You should be able to run them off a molex connector.

What do you get when you stress test it with the TX3? Like Starbound says, 36C is low temps.

Depends on season in winter between 27°c to 35°c idle and between 45 to 60°c on load.

60 C in the summer on load isn't bad and better than 81 C on the stock cooler. Not sure where the problem is?
