SCOTUS rules in favour of games in California

Post by Drakonis »

This was a triumph...
The American Supreme Court have at last passed their ruling on the Brown versus EMA (Entertainment Merchants Association) case, giving games the same protected rights as books and movies, saying that “the act forbidding sale or rental of violent games to minors does not comport with the 1st Amendment”
"May the forces of evil become confused on the way to your house."
My opinion, not the mag's

So it is now legal for minors to buy a game rated 15 or 18?

I live in a country where games rated over 15 are illegal, so I'm getting a real kick out of this

Sorry to burst your bubbles, but US rulings aren't applicable to neither us nor jamin.

(Slightly off-topic and directed at jamin: aren't you guys trying to get a R18 rating for games? Or has that fallen through?)

They have been debating it for ages. Been put on the back burner now that the great firewall goes online next month.

They have now decided that you cannot "opt-out" of this amazing innovation because why you not want a service which would block child porn on your PC? Only people who like child porn would want to opt-out of that :?

Jam, can you not just buy "blocked goods" via internet and get it delivered?

Yeah, but I have no interest in most R18 games so that makes very little difference to me.
