UPDATE TIME

so i got my stuff from A1 radio and this is a small update on what ive done:)

okay well this is something i didnt upload and show you guys but i changed the leds in the cdrom

Image
casing opened up

Image
led in place

Image
led on

now for the new part:)

Image
what i had done is placed the wire along the outside edge of the plexi and cut notches in it where the leds would go

i then placed the wire on the desk (like in the pic above) and put the black one right next to it and cut notches in it aswell.

Image
pic of a notch

Image
this is the leds on the inside of the panel.. it will probably all be covered in duct tape or something (they are just held in place but selotape for now)
fairly messy

Image
this is what it looks like when lit up

and last of all
Image
this is what it should look like when it is on the case

as you can see the scratches come out very easaly so i will have to clean it up a bit

hope you guys enjoy... more updates to come throughout the week if i have time

comments welcome 8)

Ugly keyboard but flippen nice backlit logo. Are you seriously going to just stick those wires down with duct tape? Can't you think of something better?

good news is that ive done some modding this week and i should have some pictures up
more good news one of the guys in my local town saw my case and now wants me to mod one for him ..... its just a simple window with lighting but im trying to think of some new ideas (with the limited plexi i have)

bad news is my parts are sitting in the uk still :(

update time :) woop woop

first off ..... the side panel.

Image

i glued all the leds down with hot glue.... it does look a little messy but its not to bad

Image

close up

okay and then the update for last nights work

im sure all the guys who have been following my log will remember this.

Image
looks a bit plain and boring hey?

Image
i wonder :?

so the plan was to replace the leds i burnt out underneath the case but this time ive used 3 of them

Image
3 nice new leds

to make it neater and out of the way from hands that might end up under the case i used the plastic foot on the front of the case as a housing for all the leds

Image
close up shot

i then had to cut three strips of yellow and black wire long enough to get into the case

Image

Image
all the little things needed to finish the wiring

Image
started to strip the ends of the wiring

when i solder wire to an led or to a resistor i like to wrap the wire around one of the legs making it easier to solder

Image
not very clear but im twirling wire around the leg of an led

Image
all ready to be soldered

Image
checking that the iron is hot enough

Image
and finally one finished led with wiring

after i finished soldering all of the leds it was time to heat shrink them

Image
before heat is applied

Image
and after

then i wired these leds up to the switch that my side panel runs off and this is the final product

Image
case on its side

Image
upright with lights on

Image
the all important lights off pic

more updates to come soon (i hope )

It looks nice. Personally I don't like the big nuts you used but the lighting looks good.

hai guys. got a call from my uncle a few days ago and from what i could make out it think he said he couldn't complete my order. (a bit hard to talk to him since hes a quadraplegic (sp) ) anyways.. ill probably go back to my original idea for sleeving since it is more engine like.... sadly im going to have to make a new plan with lighting. but ill be working on all of this again after exams. (2 weeks from now)

and i should be posting pics of a diffrent mod fairly soon :D as soon as i get the pc case
