Project: Red Metal (Advise Needed 26-08-2008)

Post by WAJeff »

OK, so after my last mod... which ended up being an epic failure :( I've decided to start a new one, with my new hardware goodies coming along soon (Thanks to Fire 8) ) Im gonna start a new mod

My other case is pretty much done, need to mount some more plexi on the side and get rid of the 2x 80mm fans. Then the final pics will be posted :D

So I want my mod to be in a metal (music :headbang:) type theme...
Gonna be a black case with a red interior and red fans, LED's etc etc

I've decided to go with the Antec Three Hundred chassis. I prefer working with a bland looking chassis and adding my own mods, like my last mod

Zalman CNPS9500A LED CPU Cooler

Antec TriCool's

Red LED's/CCFL's

____________

Wanna make a colour theme of black and red here

Here's the hardware I'll be getting

Image
P5N32-E SLI

Image
XFX 8800GTS 320mb OC (hopefully two for SLI)

Intel Core2Duo E8500

2GB DDR2 800 RAM - Not sure on what make etc yet

________________

The main mod Im probably gonna do to the chassis is try and fully customise the front. DVD bays, fan controllers etc etc

Then cut some sort of design in the side to make a plexi window. Im thinking semi-transparent, maybe with a bit of gloss for the plexi...
Not sure on designs yet, so far I've thought of a lightening bolt or cut outs in the shape on eyes

Maybe somewhere along the lines of this

With maybe a transfer or vinyl or this

Im open to suggestions, I havnt even got the case yet so fire away :D

well i don't know what your finacnes are like or how easy this would be to do but it could look pretty cool if you took the lightening and had all the white lines laser cut out of the panel :)

Red and black are my favourite combo - can't wait to see how this turns out.

Lemme get this straight here...
So I cut the two eyes in... and then include the white lines around it?

That would be pretty cool 8)
Then I would cancel out the scorpion though...

How would I go about getting the white lines on?

I was thinking more along the lines of just lightening :) and instead of getting them on, you get them cut out so you just see the outline of lightening. and then behind the panel you have some form of lightening. i'll see if i can edit your pic to give you a better idea of what i'm talking about.

Edit: ya infactr the whight part of the yes too. and if you put some clear perspex behind then you can put the pupils on that. and you'd basically have a lightening shaped window on your case

As for how you put the rest of the image there, vinal? some one did a very nice vinyl image onto the side of their case here

You'd have to discuss laser cutting with someone else though, i don't know to much about it. and i don't know what it would do the the vinyl?

Nice ideas dude. Thanks man!
I may just cut out the eyes (maybe a different shape or something) and the lightening around it...
Then just pop some plexi behind that. Sound good?

I see that Sybaritic may not have stock.... I'll have to look around to see if I can get that case, otherwise I'll have to search around for another chassis

Dude!! There is nothing wrong with Hynix!

I had 4gigs worth of 667 and the happily ran at 880 in my AMD rig, then I got these System Elite OCZs and they barely make 900 from 800.
