My vote is for doobs idea. The plastic steel.

Or just hit it out with a hammer, its good for stress relief... Thats what my doctor says anyway

No the hammer trick won't work. When alu is pressed out like that it stretches, and smacking it back in is just gonna ruin everything. That one's not an option.

but it could still be fun though, I'll bring the hammer

I'd go with sanding the indented surface as to provide more grip, then apply plastic steel and let it set, then sand

I still have the rest of the word "HUTTLE" :P So i can test it there.
When the theory fails build a prototype... a lesson I learned recently

Luckily you don't throw things away. If you're like me, then you even keep the bits of plexi you cut off the pieces you will be using. JUST in case you might need it someday in the far off future... (I have two crates full of things   )

I'm the same, I still have front panels for my cases from about 4 years ago. Yes I strategically horde items for later use, same as when programs are free, and then the companies turn to the dark side and start charging, I still use the older version as its free

Dae, that ali section still shows through the mesh. Wouldn't it look better to cut it off?

Hi Monty

Yeah, i'll probably still cut that away ;)

UPDATE!!!

Sheesh guys, it's been ages since an update. I'm sorry about that. It's been due to a handful of things. December was nuts because of holidays and so on, and as soon as i was back from all the holidays, we started some crazy home improvements and i had nowhere to mod. Once the home improvements weren't interfering with my modding room anymore, i decided to do some modding room upgrades. Before:

After:

I'm still busy though :P

Anyway, once THAT was out of the way (only last week), i was finally able to start modding again. So, here's the update!

I realised that the HDD would get pretty warm in the upper compartment of the case, so i decided to give it some ventilation. Top panel masked up:

Rough cut:

All done!

Image

Then i needed to cut a piece of plexi to go over that for detail, so got a piece of plexi:

Image

Nice red plexi:

Masked up and measured:

Cut out:

Then i measured the hole for the flow meter:

Image

Hole made!

Image

Image

I still need to soften the edges though...

Anyway, the hole for the HDD was then measured out:

And cut:

Test fitting... fits perfectly!

Then i measured how i wanted to cut it out:

Done!

Test fitting:

So far so good. The next step is to make a border for the HDD hole, and put some mesh in there. It's gonna look VERY good, i'm sure.

I also made a little keyring for myself:

That's it. Sorry i've taken so long!

If you're gonna comment, please also let me know what you think of the photos now, if you don't mind. Part of the reason why i put all the white plexi in this room was for photos. Thanks guys!

Regards
Ettienne

It looks great. How did you do the name tag? (I should pay more attention to details in my mods lol)

Next time you take pictures try not to get the reflection of the neon in the pic. Otherwise they look good.

Lighting is the prob. Maybe looking at getting a bright light and diffusing it? Otherwise great :)
