That would be nice, but judging for the heavily edited anime they might market it for teens, although it is live action and DBZ is pretty violent...

Here's another.

Aparently Dragonball manga was based on an ancient 80's kung fu movie.
In this clip, you will see the original, real life, Master Roshi

That's a little harsh but yeah it does feel like this might end up being a quick attempt to make money but you have to atleast have some hope, and no I don't really agree that it can't be made into a live action just that it would be hard and need some compromises.

Personally, I think if they really tried, they could make this a good movie. Fantastic 4 turned out alright, I really can't complain about X-Men and Iron Man looks like its going to be good as well.

I'd like to see who's playing Vegeta.

Ok just a little update as I was browsing arround a bit today.

@Kovu: I think what you saw there is somones version of who he'd like to play the characters. It was never real.

Chi Chi casted
Jamie Chung (Chi Chi) has joined Justin Chatwin (Goku) and James Marsters (Piccolo) in Fox's Dragon Ball Z, the live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese comic.
Coming Soon
IMDB

I'm not sure if the first one is also from the DBZ movie that never got released from Fox. The Goku looks a lot like the Justin Chatwin but cant confirm. The second one is from 2002 though.

I'll keep this one updated as it seems to actually be happening

Ok so it's been a while and it seems that the cast is actually growing for this with a fix date of August 2008.

Cast:Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura, Joon Park, Chow Yun-Fat, Texas Battle, Randall Duk Kim

There is a live blog here, Emmy Rossum also updates her blog every now and then with news from the set.

Chow-Yun Fat as Master Roshi will be funny though.

This movie better be good!
I've been waiting years for it... and it would really suck if it turned out to be an Uwe Boll type adaptation :(

StarBound wrote:It wont hold true to DBZ. DBZ is about taking a 5 minute task and telling it in 5 episodes. They simply dont have the movie time to do this. My bet is they show how Goku puts on his pants and leaves the house in a glorious 1h30m movie.
ROTFLMAO! They might need to make it an epic 3hr movie to get all of that in :)

From what I've read so far, it looks like they're telling the story from the beginning where Vegeta and Nappa first landed on Earth. They say that if this movie does well, there will be three more sequels. I'm guessing that it will continue the story probably through the whole Freeza saga up untill Buu. So if there isn't going to be any Super Sayans in this movie, there will be in the next.

This is actually a Dragonball movie, so its the king piccolo saga where a young goku defeats him. So its before DBZ.

Oh ok, my bad :)

But then why aren't there any kids in the movie, and where does Vegeta fit in?

There is no Vegeta in this movie. Probably only in the next one, if that happens that is.
